Domenico Clerico, a name that reverberates with significance in the Italian and global wine industry, has recently introduced a limited edition of Arte Langhe Rosso DOC 2020. What sets this edition apart are the extraordinary artistic labels designed by the students of the Albertina Academy of Fine Arts in Turin, who were also the winners of the second edition of the Domenico Clerico award.

The winning designers, Francesca Bellino and Melissa Trusolino, have rendered an exceptional artistic touch to the Arte Langhe Rosso DOC by creating 10 unique labels—five each—that epitomize the spirit and essence of the wine. These labels can be chosen by customers via a configurator on Domenico Clerico's official website, allowing them to personalize the three-litre bottles of Arte Langhe Rosso DOC 2020, produced in a scant edition of 200. Beyond just the artistic label, customers have the freedom to customize everything from the color of the sealing wax to the inscription on the back of the label.

Giuliana Viberti Clerico, the late Domenico Clerico's wife, emphasized the company's commitment to fostering young talent. She expressed her optimism that the project would contribute to realizing the dreams of the two gifted students who captured the essence of the famous wine "Arte" through their inventive creativity. She also noted the alignment between the new artistic perspectives and Domenico Clerico's own groundbreaking vision for viticulture.

For Oscar Arrivabene, the winemaker and director of the cellar, the new artistic additions represent more than mere aesthetic upgrades; they encapsulate the philosophy behind Arte Langhe Rosso DOC. A wine that Domenico Clerico treasured deeply, the Langhe Rosso DOC is distinctive for its non-replicable style that manifests uniquely each year. Arrivabene welcomed the fresh artistic interpretations that beautifully harmonize with the underlying philosophy of the wine.

Paola Gribaudo, President of the Albertina Academy of Fine Arts in Turin, lauded the collaborative effort. She noted that this award offers a valuable opportunity for students to apply their creativity beyond the classroom, thereby establishing a synergistic relationship between art and wine—two fields that stand as pillars of Italian cultural heritage.

Artists' Perspectives

Francesca Bellino and Melissa Trusolino bring their individual artistic inclinations to the project. Bellino's work is informed by her connection to the earth and nature, while Trusolino draws inspiration from the human figure and its diverse expressions. Both artists see the project as a significant milestone in their creative journeys, giving form to their abstract visions through the medium of wine, thereby adding layers of meaning and interpretation to the Arte Langhe Rosso DOC 2020.

The Domenico Clerico winery, based in Monforte d'Alba, has been at the forefront of Italian viticulture since its inception in 1976. Founded by the visionary Domenico Clerico, the company continues to uphold his ideals under the current leadership of Giuliana Viberti Clerico and Oscar Arrivabene. Covering 21 hectares of vineyards and producing 110,000 bottles annually, the winery remains a beacon of excellence, exporting wines like Dolcetto, Barbera, and Nebbiolo to over 40 countries around the world.

With such artistic collaboration, the limited edition of Arte Langhe Rosso DOC 2020 serves not just as an exceptional wine but also as a canvas where art and viticulture intertwine, offering an experience that tantalizes both the palate and the aesthetic senses.
