The 2024 Sustainable Ag Expo, hosted by the Vineyard Team, has concluded, leaving a significant impact on the sustainable viticulture community. The event featured 29 seminars, offering 14 hours of in-person and 15 hours of online continuing education, focusing on innovative and practical approaches to sustainable agriculture.
The expo attracted 63 exhibitors showcasing cutting-edge solutions and products tailored for sustainable farming practices. Networking opportunities were a key aspect, with attendees enjoying 38 gallons of coffee, 205 donuts, 26 bottles of local wine, and 600 ounces of beer during three dedicated events. These moments fostered meaningful connections among participants, exhibitors, and industry leaders.
The seminars included presentations from experts affiliated with UC Davis, Cal Poly, and Oregon State University. They covered a wide array of topics, such as vine pruning, disease management, and advancements in agricultural technology. A total of 35 speakers shared insights to help attendees improve their practices and address emerging challenges in sustainable agriculture.
Paul Crout, a participant and exhibitor from Helena Agri-Enterprises, praised the session led by Fritz Westover and a grower panel focused on vineyard pruning, emphasizing the immediate applicability of the tools and techniques presented.
The Sustainable Ag Expo serves as a vital platform for connecting researchers and growers, providing opportunities to earn continuing education credits while adopting practical solutions for resource management and business trends. The event's emphasis on advancing sustainable practices equips farmers, agricultural professionals, and pest control advisors with the knowledge needed to implement effective and environmentally conscious solutions.
Special thanks were extended to the event's sponsors, including Vineyard Industry Products, ProFarm, CLEMENS, Coastal Tractor, Wonderful Nurseries, Yara, as well as the Vineyard Team Board of Directors, exhibitors, and volunteers whose efforts contributed to the success of the event.
The next Sustainable Ag Expo is scheduled for November 10-12, 2025, in San Luis Obispo, California. The announcement sets the stage for another opportunity to foster a community focused on sustainable agriculture and winegrowing.
