Tequila Herradura Reposado Earns Silver at Global Spirits Competition in Jalisco

Tequila Herradura Reposado received a Silver Medal at the 2025 Spirits Selection by Concours Mondial de Bruxelles, an international competition that recognizes the quality of the world’s best spirits. The event, originally from Brussels, Belgium, was held this year in Jalisco, Mexico, bringing together a panel of experts who evaluated hundreds of spirits from more than 70 countries. The judges assessed each entry based on strict criteria of quality, authenticity, and flavor.

Casa Herradura, based in Amatitán, Jalisco, is known as a pioneer in the creation of reposado tequila. The recent award highlights the brand’s continued influence in the category it helped define. The recognition also underscores the ongoing relevance of a tradition that began in Jalisco and now sets standards for excellence worldwide.

According to the Tequila Regulatory Council (CRT), Mexico produced 495.8 million liters of tequila in 2024. Of that total, 400.3 million liters were exported to markets across five continents. The success of Tequila Herradura Reposado at this year’s competition reinforces the value of the Tequila Denomination of Origin and its importance as a symbol of Mexican identity and pride.

The award also strengthens Casa Herradura’s international presence and supports the leadership of Brown-Forman Mexico, the company that owns the brand. Brown-Forman’s operations have helped drive the export of high-quality spirits from Mexico to global markets, positioning the country as a key player in the international spirits industry.

Yleana Leal, General Director of Brown-Forman Mexico, said the recognition reflects the passion and commitment of the company’s team in Mexico. She emphasized that beyond the award itself, it reaffirms their mission to share the best of tequila culture with the world, always with a focus on quality and sustainability.

Ana Cristina Villalpando Fonseca, General Director of the National Chamber of the Tequila Industry (CNIT), noted that every award received by tequila is a recognition of its quality, tradition, and innovation. She described tequila as a symbol of unity for Mexicans and a driver of economic development for the country, supporting the entire agave-tequila production chain.

Tequila played a significant role in this year’s competition, accounting for 20 percent of all entries. The strong showing was made possible by the active participation of CNIT and its members, demonstrating the importance of the tequila industry in the global spirits sector.

Casa Herradura has a history spanning more than 150 years. The company has maintained traditional production methods while also adopting responsible and innovative processes. Under Brown-Forman’s leadership, Casa Herradura continues to expand its global reach with a portfolio of spirits that combine tradition, quality, and environmental responsibility.
