Nomad Outland Whisky Unveils New Look, Emphasizing Jerez Sherry Cask Heritage and 188 Years of Expertise

Nomad Outland Whisky, known for its unique approach to sherry cask aging, has unveiled a new brand image. The announcement was made this week by the company, which is part of the González Byass group. The new design aims to reinforce Nomad’s identity as a premium whisky that bridges the traditions of Scotland and Ireland with the distinctive aging process found in Jerez, Spain.

The updated visual identity introduces a new icon: a barrel combined with a compass rose. This symbol represents both the brand’s traveling spirit and its expertise in selecting old sherry casks for maturation. According to Nomad, this element highlights the authenticity and character of their whiskies, which are distilled in Scotland or Ireland and then transported to Jerez for final aging.

Nomad’s range includes three main expressions. The Double Cask is distilled and initially aged in ex-bourbon barrels in Speyside, Scotland, before being finished in Pedro Ximénez sherry casks in Jerez. The Reserve Triple Cask follows a similar path but undergoes two additional maturations in Jerez: first in Pedro Ximénez casks and then in VORS Matusalem casks. The Single Malt is distilled and aged in ex-bourbon barrels in Dundalk, Ireland, and then finished in old Oloroso sherry casks in Jerez.

All Nomad whiskies are matured at the historic Tío Pepe cellars of González Byass in Jerez de la Frontera. The region’s climate—warmer temperatures and lower humidity compared to Scotland or Ireland—creates different aging conditions that influence the whisky’s final profile. Each sherry cask used for aging is selected individually by the González Byass team, who have more than 188 years of experience working with these barrels for wine production.

The company says that this careful selection process and unique maturation environment give Nomad whiskies their distinctive character. The new branding is intended to reflect these qualities visually and help establish Nomad as a leader within the sherry cask whisky segment.

Nomad positions itself as a whisky for those who appreciate both tradition and innovation. By combining distillation expertise from Scotland and Ireland with the heritage of Jerez’s sherry casks, Nomad seeks to offer something different to whisky enthusiasts. The brand encourages consumers to explore new experiences while enjoying the craftsmanship behind each bottle.

The redesigned packaging will be rolled out across all markets where Nomad is available. The company expects that the new look will strengthen its presence among premium whisky brands and attract both long-time fans and new customers interested in unique aging processes.
