Tivoli Hotels Opens Luxury Palazzo Gaddi in Florence’s Historic Center

Tivoli Hotels & Resorts expanded its presence in Italy in June 2024 with the opening of Tivoli Palazzo Gaddi Firenze, a luxury hotel set in a 16th-century palace in the heart of Florence. The property is located near some of the city’s most important cultural sites, including the Duomo complex, Piazzale Michelangelo, the Medici Chapel, and the San Lorenzo market. It is also within walking distance of Santa Maria Novella train station and about a 20-minute drive from Amerigo Vespucci Airport.

The building that houses Tivoli Palazzo Gaddi was originally made up of two historic structures belonging to the Gaddi and Arrighetti families, both part of Florence’s aristocracy. The hotel preserves many elements from its noble past, including rooms decorated with original frescoes, paintings by renowned artists, and valuable art objects dating back to the 16th century. The architecture reflects classic Florentine style and has recently undergone renovations led by interior designers Patrizia Quartero and Guy Oliver. Their work focused on maintaining the Renaissance character and spirit of the palace while updating it for modern hospitality.

Tivoli Palazzo Gaddi offers 86 rooms, including four suites. The design combines authentic period furniture and Florentine art with contemporary comfort and functionality. The presidential suite features a panoramic terrace with views over the cathedral and the city.

Dining is a central part of the experience at Tivoli Palazzo Gaddi. The hotel’s main restaurant, Terrae, is led by Michelin-starred Italian chef Iside De Cesare. The menu highlights innovative interpretations of Tuscan and Italian cuisine. One standout feature is the Winter Garden, a small indoor garden that provides an intimate setting for meals.

Chef De Cesare also oversees Araia Rooftop, an elegant bar on the hotel’s rooftop. This space offers cocktails, light snacks, and views of Florence’s skyline and the Duomo, making it a popular spot for summer evenings. In addition, Milton Bar in the lobby serves refined cocktails, selected wines, and appetizers inspired by local culinary traditions. The bar is distinguished by its skylight and fireplace.

For events, Tivoli Palazzo Gaddi provides three grand halls with frescoed ceilings suitable for ceremonies, weddings, and other gatherings. There are also five meeting spaces that can accommodate up to 200 people.

Pierluca Chiavetta, General Manager of Tivoli Palazzo Gaddi, said that joining the Tivoli brand marks an important step for the property. He emphasized that the hotel aims to blend classic Tivoli hospitality with Florentine history through its service, experiences, and cuisine.

Tivoli Palazzo Gaddi is now the second Tivoli property in Italy, following Tivoli Portopiccolo Sistiana Wellness Resort & Spa, which opened in June 2023. The opening of this new hotel strengthens Tivoli’s position in Italy’s luxury hospitality sector while offering guests a unique opportunity to experience Florence’s heritage in a historic setting.
