On November 12, Costa Arènte hosted the inaugural edition of "Microcosmo Valpantena," a landmark event organized by Rete Valpantena, aimed at showcasing the diverse aspects of the Valpantena region. This collaborative project, which sought to bring to light the technical, socio-economic, historical, and cultural facets of the area, marked a significant step in promoting the region on a global stage, especially in the realms of winemaking and cultural heritage.

One of the highlights of the event was a partnership with Wine2Wine, which facilitated a roundtable discussion that reached an international audience. This discussion focused on the origin, mission, and activities of the Rete Valpantena network. Following this, a comparative masterclass offered insights into the Valpolicella DOC, emphasizing the contrasts and similarities between the Classico and Valpantena subzones.

Igor Boccardo, CEO of Leone Alato, elucidated the primary objective of Rete Valpantena as not just promoting the region, but also accentuating its unique characteristics. These include its exceptional winemaking history, potential for development, and distinctive climate. The network's approach emphasizes cooperation among competitors to foster a stronger market presence and promote the region more effectively.

Antonella Imborgia, the Marketing & Communication Manager of Le Tenute del Leone Alato, highlighted the enthusiastic response from Stevie Kim and her team when presented with the project. The event symbolized a remarkable opportunity for Rete Valpantena to gain visibility and share the story of a territory deeply rooted in community values.

Valpantena, often referred to as the "valley of the gods," is a region steeped in history, art, and spirituality. Nestled between the city of Verona and the Lessini Mountains, it forms a natural division between the Valpolicella Classica and its extended area. The valley, known for its vineyards and olive groves, is an integral part of the Valpolicella wine district and has gained prominence over the last two decades, thanks to the efforts of historic wineries.

Established in June 2023, Rete Valpantena is a collective effort by seven visionary entrepreneurs from the region (Costa Arènte, Agricola Pernigo, Cantine Bertani, La Collina dei Ciliegi, Ripa della Volta, and Ristorante La Cru – Villa Balis Crema). The network's foundation lies in coopetition – cooperation among competitors. This strategic approach aims to develop the agricultural, artisanal, productive, enogastronomic, and touristic excellences of Valpantena through collaborative efforts.

This first edition of Microcosmo Valpantena not only showcased the region's rich heritage and potential but also set a precedent for future collaborations and development within the Valpantena area.
