Retail prices for a tracked basket of 12 baijiu products in China fell to 10,658 yuan on Oct. 25, down 2 yuan from the previous reading of 10,660 yuan, according to Sina Finance’s Jiujia Neican price monitor. Sina Finance said the latest figure was the lowest level in 39 days.

The basket represents the combined average retail price of one bottle of each of the 12 baijiu references included in the monitor. Baijiu is China’s traditional grain-based distilled liquor. The prices were compiled from data gathered during the 24 hours before the Oct. 25 publication, using about 200 collection points that include distributors, retail stores and e-commerce platforms, according to the report.

The day-to-day move was small in absolute and percentage terms. Based on the published figures, the decline from 10,660 yuan to 10,658 yuan was about -0.019%. Even so, the new reading adds another data point showing weak pricing momentum in the retail market for the products covered by the basket.

Sina Finance did not provide a year-over-year comparison in the Oct. 25 update, so it was not possible to measure the latest reading against the same period last year from the source material alone. The report also did not give a detailed explanation for the latest dip, beyond showing the lower basket total and identifying it as a 39-day low.

The Jiujia Neican series is a market tracking tool rather than an official price index. It reflects a sample of retail quotations and not actual sales volumes. That means the figures offer a snapshot of listed or observed retail prices at selected points in the market, but they do not by themselves show how much baijiu consumers are buying or whether the broader industry is moving in the same direction.

That distinction matters because the daily change was limited to just 2 yuan across a basket worth more than 10,000 yuan. Such a narrow move can still be useful as an indicator when it sets a new short-term low, but it does not on its own establish a major market shift. The source material itself framed the update as another observation in an ongoing period of price pressure rather than as a decisive break in the market.

The Sina Finance report also contained internal inconsistencies on some secondary details, including references to how many individual products in the basket fell and how long the latest run had lasted. Because of those contradictions, the clearest confirmed points from the publication were the basket’s total value of 10,658 yuan, the 2 yuan daily decline, the Oct. 25 publication date and the statement that this was the lowest reading in 39 days.

For traders, distributors and producers, the monitored basket is one of several signals watched for short-term changes in China’s baijiu market. Its latest reading suggests that, at least across the sample followed by Sina Finance, average retail pricing remained under modest downward pressure going into late October.
