Goodwood Brewing & Spirits has filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy and shut down operations, ending the run of a Kentucky craft brewer that had been in business for about a decade.

The filing means the company will liquidate its assets to repay creditors. The closure comes after a sharp downturn for the brewer in a beer market that has become harder for smaller producers, with higher costs and weaker demand putting pressure on margins.

Goodwood had built a following among craft beer drinkers, but its collapse adds to a growing list of brewery failures this year. The company’s shutdown reflects broader financial strain across the American craft beer business as competition remains intense and consumer tastes continue to shift.

The pressure is not limited to one company. IWSR said U.S. beer volumes fell 5% in 2025, while total beverage alcohol also declined 5%. That backdrop has made it harder for brewers to absorb inflation in ingredients, packaging and other operating costs.

For the drinks industry, the bankruptcy is another sign that price-sensitive consumers and rising expenses are pushing some producers toward closure or liquidation. That could speed up consolidation in beer and reshape supply relationships for distributors, retailers and other beverage companies tied to smaller brewers.
