Chefs in het Bos will return to the Amsterdamse Bos this summer with two full weekends of dining, live music and outdoor programming, as organizers expand the event after what they described as strong demand in previous years.
The festival is scheduled for July 31 through Aug. 2 and again from Aug. 7 through Aug. 9, with a different food lineup planned for each weekend. Organizers said 24 Michelin-starred chefs will take part in total, with 12 chefs appearing each weekend and preparing signature dishes for visitors in the wooded setting south of Amsterdam.
A presale for tickets will open on June 4 at 10 a.m., and organizers said the number of places is limited. During the presale, tickets will cost 15 euros instead of 28.50, a discount of 40%. The event team urged interested guests to watch their inboxes for the ticket link and to share the information with friends who want to attend.
This year’s edition is built around the theme “Roots of 2050,” which organizers said is meant to look ahead at how food might evolve over the next 25 years. The chefs are expected to focus on sustainability, local sourcing and new cooking techniques, while presenting dishes designed to be accessible to a broad audience rather than limited to formal fine dining.
The event will also include acoustic jazz sessions during the day and livelier jazz performances in the evening, along with lighting designed to create a more festive atmosphere as the sun goes down. Organizers said the goal is to turn the festival into an all-day experience that combines food, music and time outdoors.
Chefs in het Bos is also tying part of its revenue to the park itself. Organizers said 1% of total sales will go directly to Amsterdamse Bos, which they described as a way to support the natural area that hosts the festival and help maintain it for future visitors.
The first chef announcements for the opening weekend are set to begin on Thursday, with one chef revealed each day over nine days through the event’s social media channels. Organizers said they want attendees to follow along online as they unveil the lineup piece by piece before tickets go on sale.
