Banfi, a well-known name in Italian winemaking, has announced the national launch of La Pettegola Rosé Toscana IGT. This new rosé joins the La Pettegola portfolio, which is already recognized for its Vermentino. The expansion follows positive feedback from select markets last year and aims to bring a fresh expression of Tuscan wine to a wider audience across the United States.
La Pettegola Rosé Toscana IGT is made from a blend of Sangiovese and Merlot grapes. The wine is produced in Tuscany, where Banfi selects grapes to maintain their freshness and aromatic qualities. The result is a rosé with notes of red berries and citrus, complemented by floral hints. On the palate, it offers bright acidity and a lightly saline finish. According to Banfi, this style reflects both quality and sustainability, two principles that guide the company’s approach to winemaking.
Cristina Mariani, President and CEO of Banfi, described the new rosé as an extension of the brand’s philosophy. She said that La Pettegola wines are designed to be approachable and enjoyable for everyday occasions as well as special events. The rosé is intended to pair well with a variety of foods, including appetizers and fried seafood.
The name La Pettegola refers both to a coastal seabird and to the Italian word for “gossiper,” suggesting a sense of sociability and charm. Banfi’s marketing emphasizes this connection, presenting the wine as something that brings people together in a relaxed setting.
Banfi has a long history in Tuscany, known especially for its work with Brunello di Montalcino. The company has also been involved in producing varietal Pinot Grigio in Montalcino and contributing to the development of Super Tuscan wines. With La Pettegola Rosé Toscana IGT, Banfi continues its efforts to balance tradition with innovation.
The new rosé is now available nationwide at a suggested retail price of $19.99 for a 750ml bottle. Banfi encourages consumers to learn more about the wine through its website and social media channels.
Founded in 1919 in New York City, Banfi remains family-owned and is currently led by Cristina Mariani. The company’s flagship property is Castello Banfi in Montalcino, which includes vineyards, a luxury hotel, Michelin-starred dining, and hospitality programs focused on sustainability. In addition to its own wines, Banfi’s portfolio features partnerships with other brands such as Natura organic wines, Brother’s Bond Bourbon, Boatyard Double Gin, Alexander Valley Vineyards, and Viñedos Orgánicos Emiliana.
