The results of the MUNDUS VINI Spring Tasting 2026 were released today, offering a detailed look at the current quality and styles in the international wine world. This year, around 5,500 wines were evaluated by a jury of international experts in blind tastings. In addition, 350 dealcoholized wines were included, marking a nearly 50% increase compared to last year. This growth highlights the rising importance of high-quality non-alcoholic products in the global market and reflects ongoing innovation among producers.
A total of 182 wines received the Best of Show award, recognizing the top wine in each category and showcasing the stylistic diversity from different regions. The countries with the most entries this year were Italy with 811 wines, Spain with 694, Portugal with 394, France with 373, and Germany with 284. This broad participation demonstrates both the trust that producers worldwide place in the competition and MUNDUS VINI’s role as a global platform for wine quality.
Another highlight was the presentation of 23 Best Producer Awards, given to the most successful producers from each country. Winners came from Italy, Australia, South Africa, the United States, and other countries, signaling strong international performance in production, quality, and brand leadership.
The Best of Show winners included iconic regions such as Barolo, Chianti Classico, and Champagne. Regional specialties from Douro, Rías Baixas, and Ribera del Duero also stood out. Wines from South Africa, Australia, Chile, the United States, and New Zealand received high marks as well, confirming strong quality outside Europe. The presence of new and dynamic wine-producing countries was notable this year. Moldova, North Macedonia, Georgia, Mexico, Taiwan, and Luxembourg all achieved significant recognition. This points to increasing diversity in the competition.
The 23 Best Producers demonstrated consistent excellence across multiple categories within their countries. This consistency has become a hallmark of MUNDUS VINI over the years.
The next major event will be the awards ceremony at ProWein 2026 in Düsseldorf. There, MUNDUS VINI’s board will present certificates to winners and showcase their wines on an international stage.
This year’s tasting also included a dedicated evaluation of non-alcoholic wines and sparkling wines under MUNDUS VINI NON-ALCOHOLIC 2026. The segment is growing rapidly in both volume and quality. The special jury awarded 208 medals: one Grand Gold, 56 Golds, and 151 Silvers. Germany led with 79 awards for non-alcoholic wines, followed by Spain with 62, France with 23, and Italy with nine. Switzerland (eight), Austria (seven), Portugal (five), Hungary (four), South Africa (three), and others also received recognition.
Among non-alcoholic entries, still wines earned 109 awards while sparkling wines made from dealcoholized wine received 99 medals. White wines dominated but rosé and blanc de blancs/blanc de noirs styles are gaining ground.
Three producers were named Best Producer for their countries in the non-alcoholic category: LES GRANDS CHAIS DE FRANCE (France), Miguel Torres S.A. (Spain), and Carl Jung GmbH (Germany). These awards recognize consistent quality across several categories.
The results from both tastings underline how broad and deep today’s international wine landscape has become. The growing presence of new regions and non-alcoholic options signals ongoing change in consumer preferences and production trends worldwide.
