Wine Auctioneer, an international online wine auction platform, has opened a new office in Utrecht, the Netherlands. The company announced the expansion as part of its strategy to strengthen its presence in Europe and meet growing demand from collectors. Since 2023, Wine Auctioneer has seen its turnover more than double, driven by increased interest from buyers and sellers around the world.
Founded in 2017, Wine Auctioneer serves collectors in more than 65 countries. The new Utrecht office is expected to make it easier for European clients to participate in monthly online auctions. By operating within the European Union, the company can now list EU-based lots directly and streamline logistics for both buyers and sellers on the continent.
The company’s founder and CEO, Iain McClune, said that opening the Utrecht office marks a significant step for Wine Auctioneer. He noted that Europe has always been a key market for the business and that being closer to customers will help build trust and improve service. The company already operates offices in Scotland and London, and the addition of Utrecht is part of a broader plan to expand across Europe.
Wine Auctioneer is known for offering a wide range of wines at auction. Its platform features well-known bottles such as First Growth Bordeaux and Burgundy, as well as rare releases and unique wines at various price points. This approach allows both experienced collectors and newcomers to access the secondary wine market.
The Utrecht office follows the launch of Wine Auctioneer’s London location in 2021. The company has also invested in digital infrastructure, including a new website designed to improve bidding and collection management for users worldwide. As part of its European growth, Wine Auctioneer is hiring wine specialists based in Europe and is seeking professionals who are passionate about fine wine and the auction market.
With this expansion, Wine Auctioneer aims to connect more closely with its European community and make it easier for people across the continent to buy and sell fine wines through its online platform.
