Classy Cocktails Debuts First Canned Cocktail Made With Cointreau Spicy

Classy Cocktails, an Italian ready-to-drink brand founded by bartender Patrick Pistolesi, said it has launched what it describes as the first canned cocktail made with Cointreau Spicy, a new orange liqueur variation from the French house Cointreau that reached international markets only weeks ago.

The drink, called Spicy Tropical Tommy’s, is a tropical take on the Tommy’s Margarita. According to the company, it combines pineapple and tequila with the spicy citrus profile of Cointreau Spicy. The product is set to make its public debut during London Padel Week, scheduled for Aug. 3 through Aug. 9, where it will serve as the event’s official cocktail.

The launch comes as drinks companies continue to push ready-to-drink cocktails toward more specialized flavor profiles. In its announcement, Classy Cocktails pointed to consumer interest in heat and spice as a growing part of that shift. The company cited research showing that 76% of consumers already choose spicy flavors at least occasionally, while nearly two-thirds prefer a balanced level of heat that adds flavor without overwhelming a drink.

Cointreau Spicy is positioned as a new expression of the brand’s signature orange liqueur. Classy Cocktails said the spirit is made with Bird’s Eye chili infusion, natural jalapeño flavors and a vegetal cucumber note, while keeping the citrus base associated with Cointreau. The result, the company said, is a profile that adds warmth without losing freshness.

For Classy Cocktails, the release is also a way to tie a new product to a fast-growing lifestyle sport with a young urban audience. London Padel Week is expected to draw about 25,000 people across several leading padel clubs in the British capital. Organizers say the week will include tournaments, music, wellness activities, networking events and aperitivo-style gatherings.

Pistolesi, who is known in Italy’s bar scene and serves as co-founder and master mixologist of Classy Cocktails, created the recipe. In comments released by the company, he described the drink as opening with fresh pineapple sweetness before tequila adds structure and Cointreau Spicy brings a gradual spicy finish.

The Tommy’s Margarita, which inspired the new cocktail, is itself a modern variation on the classic Margarita and is usually built around tequila, lime and agave syrup rather than orange liqueur. By adding pineapple and using Cointreau Spicy, Classy Cocktails is moving the format closer to tropical ready-to-drink territory while still borrowing from a recognizable cocktail template.

The release reflects broader competition in the canned cocktail market, where producers are trying to stand out not only through convenience but also through bartender-led recipes and premium ingredients. Brands have increasingly leaned on collaborations with well-known mixologists and on limited or newly launched spirits to create distinction in a crowded category.

Classy Cocktails said Spicy Tropical Tommy’s is intended to be served cold and can be garnished with fresh pineapple or chili. The company did not disclose pricing or distribution details in its announcement.

The brand was created by Pistolesi with the aim of translating bar-quality cocktails into ready-to-drink form. In recent years, that segment has expanded across Europe and North America as consumers have shown greater willingness to buy pre-mixed drinks positioned as premium rather than mass-market.

For Cointreau, the partnership gives early visibility to its latest product in a format designed for immediate consumption and event-driven sampling. For Classy Cocktails, it offers a chance to claim an early lead in bringing the new spirit into the ready-to-drink market at a moment when spicy flavors are gaining traction across food and beverage categories.
