Italy on Monday published the European Commission’s Implementing Regulation (EU) 2026/726, formally making public an approved change to the production rules for the protected geographical indication wines of Ravenna and the consolidated product specification that governs them.
The notice, issued by the Italian Office for Wine Supervision and published in the Official Gazette of the Italian Republic on May 18, says the regulation had already appeared in the Official Journal of the European Union. By publishing it domestically, Italy is giving formal effect to the updated rules for producers operating under the IGP Ravenna designation.
The measure matters for wineries and growers in the Ravenna area because it affects how the wines are made, checked and labeled under the protected indication. Such changes can alter technical requirements in the specification, which operators must follow to keep using the IGP name on their bottles.
The decree was signed in Rome on May 18 and takes effect on the day of publication. The text states that the implementing regulation is attached to the decree as part of the official record.
