Emperador Inc., the Philippines’ largest spirits company and the world’s biggest brandy producer, said it has set aside P2.4 billion, or about £29.7 million, for capital spending in 2026, with more than half of the budget going to its whisky business.
The planned outlay is down from about P4 billion, or £49.6 million, a year earlier. The company said spending is easing after several major projects were completed, including an expansion at The Dalmore distillery in Scotland that doubled production capacity.
Most of this year’s investment will fund new warehouses and maturation sites and upgrades across Emperador’s whisky operations. The rest will go to its brandy business, including improvements to production and distribution infrastructure.
The spending plan offers a signal for the wider drinks industry because it points to continued investment in aging capacity and logistics for whisky and brandy, areas that can shape future supply. It also shows how large spirits groups are tying expansion plans to operational sustainability projects.
Emperador said several of those projects are now fully operational in Scotland, including a biomass boiler at its Jura distillery and a bioenergy center in Invergordon. In the Philippines, the company said it has installed an air emissions treatment plant at its glass manufacturing facility as part of efforts to improve air quality around the site.
The company, backed by businessman Andrew Tan and controlled by Alliance Global Group Inc., reported that first-quarter net profit rose 4.5% to P1.9 billion, or about £23.5 million. Revenue increased 6% to P13.3 billion, or about £165 million, driven by stronger sales of both brandy and whisky.
Emperador owns brands including Emperador Brandy, Fundador Brandy and several single malt Scotch whiskies. It operates manufacturing facilities in the Philippines, the United Kingdom, Spain and Mexico, and distributes products in more than 100 countries. The company is listed on the Philippine Stock Exchange and the Singapore Exchange.
