The Amsterdam Wine Festival is set to begin tomorrow at the Kromhouthal, marking the start of a four-day event dedicated to wines from the Southern Hemisphere. Organizers report that the last tickets are selling quickly, with Friday and Saturday expected to sell out. The festival will run from March 26 to March 29, offering visitors a chance to taste more than 300 wines from countries such as Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Argentina and Chile.
The event aims to attract both wine enthusiasts and newcomers by combining tastings with educational masterclasses, live music and food pairings. Attendees can choose from seven different masterclasses designed to expand their knowledge about wine regions, grape varieties and food pairings. One highlight includes a tasting of wines from Salentein, a well-known winery in Argentina’s Andes region.
South African wineries will have a strong presence this year. Vinimark, Wildeberg and Perdeberg are among the featured producers. Vinimark brings decades of experience in quality wines, while Wildeberg showcases bottles inspired by the rugged mountains of Franschhoek. Perdeberg offers aromatic wines made from dry-land grapes, emphasizing the influence of terroir.
The festival also features interactive activities such as grape-stomping competitions and opportunities to meet winemakers. Food vendors will serve dishes designed to complement the wines on offer. Live music and DJs are scheduled throughout the weekend to create a lively atmosphere.
Organizers say the Kromhouthal will be transformed into a vibrant space where visitors can explore the stories behind each bottle and discover new favorites. The event is expected to draw thousands of visitors from across the Netherlands and beyond, reflecting growing interest in wines from the Southern Hemisphere.
Tickets for the festival and its masterclasses are available online, but organizers warn that availability is limited due to high demand. The Amsterdam Wine Festival has become a key event for wine lovers in Europe, offering a unique opportunity to experience international wines in one location.
