The international market for sparkling wines is showing strong growth, with analysts reporting that global market volume surpassed US$50b for the first time in 2025. Premium segments and popular categories such as Prosecco, Crémant, and alcohol-free alternatives are experiencing double-digit growth rates in some cases. In response to this momentum, ProWein will introduce a new feature called Sparkling Visions at its March 2026 event in Düsseldorf. This initiative aims to highlight the dynamic sparkling wine sector through a decentralized exploration of products from regions including Champagne, Cava, and other international specialties.
At the center of this new focus will be the ProWein Sparkling Bar, located in Hall 4. The bar is designed as a modern meeting point where trade visitors can participate in tastings, brief talks, and gain insights into current trends and markets. Experienced sommeliers will serve selected sparkling wines from various exhibitors at a long counter, creating a relaxed bar atmosphere. The wine menu will include QR codes that provide detailed information about each wine, enabling visitors to contact producers directly, schedule appointments, or request additional materials.
Throughout each day of the event, several keynote tastings will offer concise overviews of the international sparkling wine market. Each session will last 30 minutes and feature up to five wines, which will be tasted and discussed by experts. These tastings will cover established varieties such as Champagne, Prosecco, sparkling wine, and Crémant, as well as emerging market segments. Comparative tastings are planned with traditional sparkling wine associations, top Lambrusco producers, and the VDP.Sekt.Prestige category. Caro Maurer MW will host these sessions. International styles will also be explored using examples like cava producer Pere Ventura. Additional tastings will address topics such as “Sparkling Wine by the Glass,” presented by Patrick Schmitt MW. Champagne producers will present their products at the bar in collaboration with the Champagne Lounge.
Daily Sparkling Talks are scheduled to provide updates on market developments, consumer trends, and opportunities within the sparkling wine segment. These talks will last 20 minutes and focus on practical information with an international perspective. To help visitors navigate the event efficiently, a digital Sparkling Map will highlight all relevant stations featuring sparkling wines at ProWein.
The tastings and lectures at Sparkling Visions are organized by Alexandra Wrann DipWSET and Dr. Anja Zimmer, founders of the communication agency A2 Wine & Things. They developed the concept for the new Sparkling Bar together with ProWein organizers.
Frank Schindler, Director of ProWein Düsseldorf, stated that Sparkling Visions is designed to bring together all themes related to sparkling wine at ProWein in a way that makes their innovative potential visible and accessible. He described the Sparkling Bar as a central place for tasting and discussion that encourages attendees to explore new ideas and put them into practice immediately. Schindler emphasized that current conditions in the sparkling wine market are ideal for innovation.
ProWein Düsseldorf is scheduled to take place from March 15 to 17, 2026. The event is expected to attract trade visitors from around the world who are interested in exploring new trends and opportunities in the growing sparkling wine sector.
