Solos, a subsidiary of Prodalim, has opened a new production facility dedicated to no- and low-alcohol (NoLo) wine in Alcàsser, Valencia, Spain. The facility was officially inaugurated on January 15 and is now fully operational. This marks Solos’ expansion into its sixth global market, with the company planning to bring U.S. production capacity online next.
The new 2,400-square-meter site in Valencia has an annual capacity of up to 16 million liters. It will serve markets across Spain and southern France. The facility introduces Solos’ Aroma Recovery System (ARS) to Southern Europe, a technology developed over more than ten years of research and development. The ARS addresses a key challenge in NoLo wine production: the loss of aroma during dealcoholization.
Solos’ patented ARS uses solid-phase extraction to capture a wide range of volatile aroma compounds from the wine’s liquid distillate. These compounds are then reintroduced after the alcohol is removed, preserving the original aroma profile of the wine. This process allows Solos to produce NoLo wines that can still be labeled as “wine” under European Union standards, without needing reformulation or additives.
At the Valencia facility, Solos combines its proprietary aroma recovery process with gentle vacuum dealcoholization using a Centec DeAlcoTec column. The site also offers pilot trials, product development, finishing services, and on-site bottling. This integrated approach provides wine producers with a complete pathway from product validation to market launch.
Pedro García, General Manager of Solos, said that the opening of the Valencia facility is a significant milestone for both the company and the premium NoLo wine category. He noted that advanced technology and a skilled local team position Solos to meet growing international demand for high-quality NoLo wines.
With this new facility, Solos now operates in six global markets: Germany, Switzerland, Austria, France, Spain, and soon the United States. The company’s expansion is supported by its parent company Prodalim, which has more than 30 years of experience in beverage ingredient solutions and a global supply chain.
Claudia Geyer, Chief Technology Officer at Solos, described the opening as the result of years of focused research and collaboration. She said that Valencia represents the starting point for Solos’ next phase of innovation in NoLo beverages.
Representatives from Prodalim, Centec, and Weingut Bergdolt-Reif & Nett attended the plant’s opening ceremony. Solos plans to engage with producers and trade partners at several upcoming European trade events including Wine Paris in France, Salon Degré Zéro in Paris, ProWein in Düsseldorf, and Barcelona Wine Week in Spain.
Solos specializes in aroma recovery for premium dealcoholized beverages using its multi-patented ARS technology. The company provides contract manufacturing services for NoLo wines and other beverages through its international network of facilities. With continued investment in innovation and product integrity, Solos aims to help producers across wine, beer, and spirits meet consumer expectations for quality NoLo products as demand continues to rise globally. According to recent analysis from IWSR, NoLo wine is one of the fastest-growing segments in beverage alcohol.
