Decántalo Acquires Bodeboca, Forming Europe’s Largest Online Wine Retail Group

The Spanish online wine retailer Decántalo has acquired its direct competitor Bodeboca, creating what the company says is now the largest online wine sales group in Europe. The announcement was made through an official statement from the company. Both brands will now operate under the Melchior Wine & More group, which also includes the French e-commerce platform Le Petit Ballon.

The new group expects to close 2025 with a combined revenue of 50 million euros and aims to reach 80 million euros by 2028. The integration of Decántalo and Bodeboca is part of a strategy to combine scale with specialization, while maintaining the unique identity of each brand. Bodeboca will continue to focus on private sales, offering exclusivity to its community of more than two million users in Spain.

Decántalo plans to further expand its catalog, which already features over 10,000 wine references. The company will also leverage its expertise in international logistics, which currently allows it to generate 75 percent of its revenue outside Spain. Decántalo operates in more than 35 countries, with significant sales in Germany, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland. Its catalog includes a wide range of wines, from natural and orange wines to non-alcoholic products.

Héctor Pla, co-founder of Decántalo, expressed satisfaction with the acquisition. He stated that the diversity of wine consumers requires different approaches and that joining forces will help the group grow faster and compete across Europe while preserving each brand’s essence.

Gilles Raison, CEO of Le Petit Ballon and Melchior Wine & More, highlighted Bodeboca’s strong reputation in Spain and said that adding it to the group’s portfolio reinforces their leadership in the Spanish market.

Decántalo’s main operations center is located in Rubí, near Barcelona. In 2023, the company opened a warehouse there with 1,500 square meters and 6,000 cubic meters of climate-controlled storage. The acquisition of Bodeboca will lead to an expansion of these facilities, a project that is already underway according to company sources.

The move comes as online wine sales continue to grow across Europe. By bringing together three major e-commerce platforms under one group, Melchior Wine & More aims to strengthen its position in a competitive market and offer a broader selection of wines to customers across the continent.
