The 2025 harvest season is about to begin in the hills of Conegliano Valdobbiadene, and local winegrowers are expressing strong optimism about the upcoming vintage of Prosecco Superiore DOCG. The Consorzio di Tutela Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco DOCG, which oversees the region’s production standards, has reported favorable conditions for grape maturation and quality as the harvest approaches.
Franco Adami, president of the Consorzio, stated that this year’s growing season has not presented any significant challenges. He emphasized that producers are looking forward to an excellent 2025 vintage, with expectations higher than in previous years. According to Adami, the absence of major weather-related issues has contributed to a positive outlook among local winemakers.
Diego Tomasi, director of the Consorzio, provided further details on the state of the vineyards. He noted that grape health is currently optimal. Over the past year, rainfall in the region was down by 30 percent compared to the previous season. Despite this reduction in precipitation and fewer rainy days overall, temperatures remained consistent with those recorded in 2024. The area also experienced more clear days than usual.
Tomasi explained that these conditions have led to a good balance between acidity and sugar levels in the grapes. He highlighted that aromatic values are already at promising levels, as confirmed by recent chemical analyses. The grapes are also in excellent sanitary condition, which is crucial for producing high-quality wine. Tomasi said that when determining the start date for harvesting, priority will be given to grape health, acidity, and skin ripeness rather than just sugar content.
At this stage, industry experts believe that the 2025 harvest could rank among the top three or four vintages of the past thirty years for Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG. The region is known for its high standards in sparkling wine production, and current indicators suggest that this year’s vintage may not only meet but potentially exceed those standards.
The Conegliano Valdobbiadene area is recognized worldwide for its steep vineyards and unique microclimate, both of which contribute to the distinctive character of its Prosecco Superiore wines. As harvest preparations continue, producers remain focused on maintaining quality through careful selection and timing.
The official start date for picking grapes will be decided soon, based on ongoing assessments of grape maturity and health. Local growers and industry leaders are hopeful that favorable weather will continue through the final stages of ripening. If current trends hold, wine enthusiasts can expect an exceptional release from this celebrated Italian region in 2025.
