Spain Increases Wine Exports to MERCOSUR as Demand Rises Across South America

Wine imports by the four MERCOSUR countries—Brazil, Paraguay, Uruguay, and Argentina—reached 187.2 million liters in the twelve months from December 2024 to November 2025, according to official data analyzed by the Interprofessional Wine Organization of Spain (OIVE). The total value of these imports was €555.7 million. Both volume and value increased by 2.5% compared to the same period in 2024. The average purchase price remained stable at €2.97 per liter.

Spain’s wine exports to MERCOSUR also showed growth during this period. According to data from the Spanish Tax Agency (AEAT), also analyzed by OIVE, Spain exported 10.6 million liters of wine to Brazil, Argentina, Paraguay, and Uruguay between November 2024 and October 2025. This represents a 3.1% increase in volume compared to the previous year. The value of these exports reached €35.7 million, up 8.6%. The average price per liter rose by 5.4%, reaching €3.37.

Compared to the previous twelve-month period ending in October 2024, Spain’s wine exports to MERCOSUR increased by 0.3 million liters and €2.8 million in value.

Brazil remains Spain’s main market within MERCOSUR for wine exports. In the twelve months ending October 2025, Brazil accounted for 75% of Spain’s revenue from wine exports to the region and 89% of the total volume exported there. Spanish wine exports to Brazil reached €26.7 million, a 7% increase from the previous year, with a total volume of 9.5 million liters, up 1.5%. The average price per liter exported to Brazil was €2.81, an increase of 5.5%.

These figures reflect steady demand for imported wine in MERCOSUR countries and a growing presence of Spanish wines in these markets, especially in Brazil, which continues to be the leading destination for Spanish wine exports in South America.
