1800 Tequila has introduced a new luxury añejo tequila called 1800 Guachimonton, timed to coincide with World Tequila Day on July 24. The launch took place in Jalisco, Mexico, the heartland of tequila production. This new release pays tribute to the region’s deep agricultural and cultural roots, drawing inspiration from the archaeological site of Los Guachimontones, a UNESCO World Heritage site known for its circular pyramids and distinctive red clay.
The 1800 Guachimonton is crafted entirely from Blue Weber agave, harvested at peak maturity in the Tequila Valley. The spirit is aged in American oak barrels and finished in orange liqueur casks, a nod to the orange groves that once flourished in this part of Jalisco. The result is a tequila with notes of honey and fresh, bitter citrus, designed to offer a smooth and velvety texture. The brand recommends enjoying it neat or over ice, with an orange twist as garnish.
The bottle itself stands out for its trapezoidal shape and red ceramic material, topped with a circular wooden stopper. This design references both the ancient pyramids of Los Guachimontones and the region’s traditional red clay. According to 1800 Tequila, this packaging aims to connect drinkers with the land and history that define Jalisco’s identity.
1800 Guachimonton is now available at select retailers and exclusive venues across the United States and Mexico. The company positions this release as an option for tequila enthusiasts seeking authenticity and sophistication, as well as a story behind each pour.
1800 Tequila has built its reputation as one of the most awarded tequila brands globally, based on recognition from the Mexican Academy of Tequila between 2001 and 2023. It also holds the top spot in super-premium tequila sales in the United States, according to Nielsen data from late 2023. The brand continues to emphasize its commitment to traditional production methods and Mexican heritage while collaborating with artists and musicians to reach new audiences.
The introduction of 1800 Guachimonton reflects ongoing interest in premium tequilas that highlight regional character and craftsmanship. As consumer demand grows for spirits with clear provenance and unique stories, producers like 1800 Tequila are responding with products that celebrate both tradition and innovation.
