Laurent-Perrier Brut Millésimé 2015: A Champagne Crafted in Exceptional Years

Gifting wine is often a safe choice, especially when it comes to champagne. The Millésimé 2015 is a standout option. This champagne undergoes extended aging in the bottle, offering a classic taste with an elegant bubble. Priced at €107.40, the Laurent-Perrier Brut Millésimé 2015 is crafted only in exceptional years. Laurent-Perrier selects only the best harvests to create wines that reflect the house's style. The Brut Millésimé is made from equal parts Chardonnay from Côte des Blancs and Pinot Noir from Montagne de Reims. The 2015 vintage experienced extreme weather: a mild, rainy winter, a spring with freezing temperatures followed by intense heat, and a stormy summer. September's cool, dry conditions allowed perfect grape ripening.

The wine is composed of 50% Chardonnay and 50% Pinot Noir. The Chardonnay comes from Chouilly, Oger, Cramant, and Oiry, while the Pinot Noir is sourced from Tours-sur-Marne, Aÿ, Tauxières, Verzenay, and Ambonnay. It is aged for seven years. The champagne has a white gold color with fine, persistent bubbles. Its complex aroma includes notes of beeswax, candied lemon, honeysuckle, and hawthorn, followed by toasted bread and orange. It has a lively start, leading to a creamy, elegant palate with hints of candied lemon and honeysuckle. It should be served between 9°C and 11°C.

The Brut Millésimé 2015 pairs well with dishes like scallop carpaccio with citrus, herb-crusted sea bass, or roasted chicken with citrus and spiced bread. Laurent-Perrier produces its Millésimé only in exceptional years, at most once every two years, unlike the more frequent production of millésimé in Champagne.
