Espolòn increased its volume by 16.2% in U.S. public-control markets from January through August 2026 compared with the same period in 2025, according to data published on Thursday, October 29, by Shanken News Daily.
The report tracks sales in U.S. jurisdictions where the public sector controls the distribution of alcoholic beverages. In those markets, the data showed double-digit growth for the Mexican tequila brand, which is owned by Campari Group. The publication cited figures attributed to the National Alcohol Beverage Control Association, or NABCA, and Impact Databank.
The published table did not include the absolute volume base for Espolòn in those control jurisdictions for January through August of either year. Because of that, the increase can be stated only as a 16.2% year-over-year rise, not as a specific number of additional cases.
That limitation is important because the broader U.S. sales figure available for Espolòn covers a different market scope. Shanken News Daily, citing Impact Databank, reported that Espolòn recorded 1.667 million nine-liter cases in distributor depletions across the entire United States in 2025. That national figure cannot be used to calculate the gain in public-control markets, since the new growth figure refers only to a subset of U.S. jurisdictions.
The report still points to continued momentum for Espolòn in a part of the U.S. market that is closely tracked by producers and distributors. Control jurisdictions are states or territories where a government entity plays a direct role in alcohol distribution. NABCA represents those jurisdictions and publishes statistical information on beverage alcohol sales.
Campari Group, the Italian drinks company that owns Espolòn, has been relying on tequila as one of its key categories in the United States. The company reported global sales of nearly €2.3 billion in the first nine months of 2026, according to the background information cited with the trade report. Espolòn has become one of its larger tequila brands in the U.S. market, where demand for agave spirits has remained an important part of industry growth.
The October 29 item was based on a secondary trade source rather than a direct company filing. Shanken News Daily is published by M. Shanken Communications, a New York-based publishing company that also produces Impact Databank, an alcohol industry research service. The figures in the report were attributed to NABCA and Impact Databank.
The timing of the release also matters. Although the report was published in late October, the measurement period ended in August. That means the 16.2% increase reflects performance over the first eight months of the year, not a full-year result and not trends from September or October.
Even with those limits, the result stands out because it shows that Espolòn expanded at a strong pace in a channel where volume is measured across government-controlled markets. For analysts and suppliers, those markets offer a distinct view of brand performance because they separate out jurisdictions with different distribution rules from the wider U.S. system.
The data did not provide a monetary value for Espolòn’s gain in those markets, and it did not break out pricing, revenue, or market share. It reported only the change in volume. No cause for the increase was specified in the published figures.
Still, the report adds another sign of scale for Espolòn in the United States. The brand already had a verified national base of 1.667 million nine-liter cases in 2025, according to the trade data cited in the report, and the new figures show that it continued to grow in public-control jurisdictions through August 2026.
