Praia Irmão, a beach club set in the dunes of Costa da Caparica south of Lisbon, is opening the summer season with a new food and drinks program and the return of SuncéBeat New Horizons, a four-day music festival scheduled for June 18 through June 21.
The venue said the summer menu was developed by chef Welder Silva, with pizzas by chef Rawezh Amin and cocktails curated by Maurício Leal Cardoso. The update is part of Praia Irmão’s effort to strengthen its appeal as a food, music and seaside destination on Portugal’s Atlantic coast at the start of the peak travel season.
The new menu follows a Mediterranean direction and focuses on seasonal ingredients and house-made preparations. According to the venue, items made in-house include pizza sauce, aromatic oils, juices and cocktail ingredients. Among the starters are oysters served with ponzu and sunomono dressing, amberjack carpaccio with chili, orange, radish and citrus vinaigrette, roasted eggplant, and hummus with crudités, focaccia, dukkah and olive oil.
Main dishes include charcoal-grilled octopus with pistachio romesco and grilled vegetables, grilled sirloin steak with beef jus, chimichurri and confit garlic, and a vegetarian plate built around purple sweet potato, celeriac, ginger and red lentil croquettes with quinoa tabbouleh, cauliflower mayonnaise and white bean and beet purée.
The pizza selection includes a Margherita with mozzarella di bufala and Portuguese extra virgin olive oil, a stracciatella pizza with truffle and cherry tomatoes, and a pepperoni-and-nduja pie finished with gorgonzola and truffle honey. Desserts include panna cotta with seasonal fruit compote and basil-almond crumble, and grilled pineapple served with house-made ice cream and salted miso caramel.
On the beverage side, Praia Irmão is highlighting signature cocktails including Wavey Daze, C’est La Vie and Korean Paloma. The venue did not release broader pricing for the food or drinks menu in the announcement.
The culinary launch coincides with the return of SuncéBeat New Horizons, which will use Praia Irmão as its main hub for the third straight year in Portugal. The festival began 14 years ago in Croatia and has built its identity around soulful house, disco, funk and R&B. Organizers say the Costa da Caparica edition is designed around an open format without a VIP area, with an emphasis on shared space between performers and attendees.
This year’s lineup includes The Ritual with Anané and Louie Vega, Ron Trent, Ella Knight, Cuebur, Sandy Rivera featuring Julie McKnight, DJ Spen, Kenny Dope, DJEFF, Chez Damier, Henrik Schwarz, Kamma & Masalo, and Danny Plessow of Motor City Drum Ensemble. Portuguese artists on the bill include M.Dusa, Helena Guedes and Trol2000.
Tickets are on sale through the festival website. Four-day passes start at €262.27, while opening-day tickets start at €53.89 per person.
