Louis Roederer, Krug, and Bollinger have once again been recognized as the most admired Champagne brands in the world. This recognition comes from the 2026 edition of “The World’s Most Admired Champagne Brands,” a ranking published by Drinks International magazine. The list is based on the opinions of an academy made up of hundreds of sommeliers, wine merchants, restaurateurs, journalists, and Masters of Wine. The panel evaluates brands on the quality and consistency of their entire range, with special attention to non-vintage flagship expressions, branding strength, marketing efforts, and price-to-quality ratio.
Despite facing a challenging global environment, Champagne remains a dominant force in both French and international wine markets. In 2025, Champagne shipments dropped to 266 million bottles from 271 million in 2024, according to Comité Champagne. Exports also declined by 4.5% compared to 2024 but still reached $3.68 billion, as reported by the Fédération des Exportateurs de Vins & Spiritueux de France (Fevs). The sector has been affected by falling wine consumption, health trends that discourage alcohol use, and ongoing geopolitical and economic crises.
Industry analysts note that smaller producers are feeling the impact of these challenges more acutely. However, the leading brands continue to drive the reputation and mythos of Champagne worldwide. Louis Roederer, Krug, and Bollinger have maintained their top positions for three consecutive years in this ranking. Their continued success is attributed to their ability to deliver high-quality products across their portfolios and maintain strong brand identities.
Other well-known names complete the top ten most admired Champagne brands for 2026. These include Billecart-Salmon, Pol Roger, Charles Heidsieck (owned by the Descours family’s Epi Group, which also owns Italian wineries Biondi-Santi in Brunello di Montalcino and Isole e Olena in Chianti Classico), Dom Pérignon, Ruinart, Taittinger, and Laurent-Perrier.
The methodology behind the ranking mirrors that used for “The World’s Most Admired Wine Brands,” which will be announced soon. Last year’s wine ranking saw Argentina’s Catena at number one, with Italy’s Gaja at number two and Antinori at number four. Other Italian names included Sassicaia, Frescobaldi, Planeta, Tignanello, and Ornellaia.
Champagne’s leading houses continue to set benchmarks for quality and prestige in a market that is increasingly competitive and sensitive to global trends. Their ability to adapt while maintaining tradition helps them remain at the forefront of consumer admiration worldwide.
