Chilean Wine and Pisco Producers Target Global Markets at Prowein Düsseldorf 2026

Chilean wine and pisco producers are seeking new business opportunities at Prowein Düsseldorf 2026, one of the world’s most important trade fairs for the beverage industry. The event, which opened on March 15 in Germany, is expected to attract more than 42,000 visitors from around the globe. This year, Chile has returned with a dedicated stand for pisco for the second consecutive time, featuring five companies from the Coquimbo and Atacama regions. The initiative is a joint effort between ProChile and Pisco Chile to strengthen the country’s brand, expand markets, and consolidate export growth.

The wine sector is represented by Wines of Chile, which has organized the participation of 15 wineries in a 152-square-meter pavilion. The group is also hosting a masterclass focused on the Maule, Colchagua, and Cachapoal valleys. Lorena Sepúlveda, national director of ProChile, emphasized the importance of showcasing Chile’s wine offerings at Prowein Germany, describing it as a hub for business, networking, and brand positioning. According to Sepúlveda, last year Chile exported $1.5 billion in wine to 141 markets worldwide. Pisco exports reached $3.9 million and were shipped to 40 destinations. She stated that ProChile is working closely with industry associations and companies to increase these figures and reach more markets.

Europe remains a key destination for Chilean pisco exports. Germany led the continent last year by receiving shipments worth over $458,000, marking a 73% increase. Spain followed with $310,000 in imports—almost triple the amount from 2024—while France received $143,000, up by 24%. Francisco Munizaga, president of Pisco Chile, noted that Germany was the third-largest export market for pisco globally last year. He said the strategy is to continue building the category alongside brands already present in this market. Munizaga added that Prowein offers an opportunity to learn about trends, connect new brands with importers, and promote pisco’s qualities at one of Europe’s most significant trade fairs.

For Chilean wine producers, Europe accounted for nearly 36% of export value last year with $550 million in sales. However, given Prowein Düsseldorf’s international scope, Chilean participants are also targeting North America and Asia to boost foreign sales further. Julio Alonso, commercial director of Wines of Chile, explained that Chile’s national pavilion reflects the diversity and quality of its wine industry. He said their goal is to help wineries connect with importers, distributors, and buyers from around the world. Alonso stressed that global trade fairs like Prowein are essential for maintaining Chilean wine’s position and opening new business opportunities in strategic markets.

During Prowein Düsseldorf 2026, both Chilean pavilions are hosting inaugurations, cocktail events, and tastings with support from ProChile’s office in Germany. Attendees include Germán Vergara, commercial director of ProChile in Germany; Francisco Munizaga and Manuel Schneider from Pisco Chile; as well as representatives from Wines of Chile such as Julio Alonso and Carmen Orellana. The coordinated presence aims to reinforce Chile’s image as a leading producer of wine and pisco while seeking new partnerships and expanding its reach in international markets.
