Bushmills, the world’s oldest licensed whiskey distillery, has released two new limited-edition single malts: Bushmills 25 Years Old and Bushmills 31 Years Old. Both whiskeys are produced in Northern Ireland and reflect the brand’s long-standing tradition of craftsmanship and innovation. The releases are aimed at collectors and connoisseurs seeking rare, high-quality Irish whiskey.
The Bushmills 25 Years Old is a triple-distilled single malt made from 100% malted barley. It matures for six years in Oloroso sherry and bourbon casks before spending an additional 21 years in first-fill Ruby Port pipes. This extended aging process gives the whiskey a deep reddish-copper color and complex aromas of dark fruits, honey, and toasted wood. On the palate, it offers flavors of caramelized cherries, plums, blackberries, dark chocolate, and sweet spices. Only 3,500 bottles have been produced, each bottled at 46% ABV and non-chill filtered to preserve its character. The recommended retail price is €1,200.
The Bushmills 31 Years Old is positioned as an even rarer expression. It begins with 13 years of maturation in Oloroso sherry casks and bourbon barrels, followed by an 18-year finish in Madeira casks. This process results in a whiskey with aromas of dried fruit, cocoa, and black coffee. The flavor profile includes mandarin, peach, warm honey, spice, and toasted oak. The texture is creamy with a long finish. Only 2,800 bottles are available worldwide at a price of €2,390 per bottle.
Both whiskeys are presented as examples of Bushmills’ expertise in barrel selection and aging. Alex Thomas, Master Blender at Bushmills, said these releases celebrate the distillery’s heritage by combining centuries of experience with attention to detail in every barrel. She emphasized that both whiskeys are best enjoyed neat to appreciate their full complexity.
Bushmills has operated since 1608 and is recognized for its role in shaping Irish whiskey traditions. The distillery’s focus on long-term aging and careful cask management is evident in these new releases. The limited number of bottles highlights their exclusivity and appeal to collectors.
The launch of these two expressions comes at a time when demand for premium aged spirits continues to grow globally. Collectors and enthusiasts often seek out such limited editions for their rarity and investment potential as well as their taste profiles.
Both whiskeys are now available through select retailers and specialist outlets in key markets worldwide. The release underscores Bushmills’ ongoing commitment to producing high-quality Irish single malts that honor its history while appealing to modern tastes.
