Brad Pitt Unveils The Gardener Gin, Bottled at 42% ABV and Inspired by the Côte d’Azur

Brad Pitt, known worldwide for his acting career, has recently shared insights about his latest venture in the world of spirits: The Gardener gin. Speaking directly about the project, Pitt described the gin as “the soul of the Côte d’Azur,” emphasizing its deep connection to the Mediterranean region. The actor, who has already established himself in the wine industry with Château Miraval in Provence, partnered with the Perrin family—his collaborators in winemaking—and renowned distiller Tom Nichol to create this new spirit.

The Gardener gin was developed with a clear goal: to capture and bottle the scents and flavors of the French Riviera. Pitt explained that his gin is more than just a product of its terroir. “The Gardener is the soul of the Côte d’Azur, that beautiful and capricious muse,” he said. He described it as an embodiment of a place that has inspired dreamers and artists for centuries.

To achieve this, The Gardener is crafted exclusively with botanicals from the region. Ingredients include wild juniper berries from Provence and lemons from Menton. Pitt stressed that this approach goes beyond simply making a gin that reflects its origin. For him, The Gardener is closely tied to the Riviera’s unique lifestyle, its bright and sparkling light, and a subtle elegance that balances pleasure and relaxation. “That’s the deep terroir of The Gardener,” he said, calling the French Riviera “the extraordinary garden” behind this distinctive gin.

The trend of terroir-driven gins is growing in France, with several producers highlighting local ingredients in their spirits. Notable examples include Gin 13 from Domaine André Brunel in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Domaine La Font des Pères in Bandol, Christian Drouin’s gin in Normandy, Citadelle gin from Charente, and Oruza organic gin made with Camargue rice by Maison Fluide in Aigues-Mortes.

The Gardener stands out among these for its focus on Mediterranean botanicals. Its aromatic profile features wild juniper berries from Provence, bitter orange from Cap d’Antibes, fragrant lemon zest from Menton, figs from the Côte d’Azur, wild rosemary, lavender from inland hills, and mimosa flowers from coastal cliffs. The result is a complex spirit with a fresh texture and layered flavors that reflect its origins.

The Gardener French Riviera Gin is bottled at 42 percent alcohol by volume and is available at a price of €44.90 for 70 cl. With this release, Brad Pitt continues to expand his presence in French gastronomy and spirits, offering a product that aims to express both the landscape and lifestyle of one of Europe’s most celebrated regions.
