London Wine Fair 2026 to Spotlight UK Drinks Industry with Inaugural Host Nation Program

The London Wine Fair is preparing for a major shift in 2026, as it introduces its first-ever ‘Host Nation’ program with a focus on the United Kingdom’s drinks industry. The 45th edition of the fair will take place from May 18 to 20 at Olympia in London. For the first time, the event will spotlight a selected nation or region each year, beginning with England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland.

Organizers expect this edition to be the largest yet for British participation. More than 100 domestic producers and brands are set to exhibit, nearly five times the number seen last year. So far, 37 have already confirmed their attendance. The fair will showcase a wide range of UK drinks, including English still and sparkling wines, Scottish and Welsh spirits, Northern Irish distillers, as well as no-and-low alcohol options, beer, cider, and mead.

Hannah Tovey, Event Director of the London Wine Fair, said that highlighting the home nations for the inaugural Host Nation initiative feels appropriate. She pointed to recent successes by English wine producers Nyetimber and Gusbourne at last year’s Icon Tasting: Battle of the Bubbles. Both placed at the top against leading Champagnes and sparkling wines from around the world. Tovey described the upcoming event as a celebration of progress and ambition within the UK drinks sector.

A flagship English Wine stand will be located near the main entrance of Olympia, featuring 12 leading producers. Among those confirmed are Simpsons Wine Estate, returning after a seven-year absence, and Gusbourne, which will make its debut at the fair. Charles Simpson, co-founder of Simpsons Wine Estate, said that with nearly half of their client base coming from exports, the London Wine Fair offers an ideal venue to connect with both domestic and international customers.

Jonathan White, CEO of Gusbourne, expressed enthusiasm about presenting their wines alongside other English producers to a new audience from both the UK and abroad. The fair aims to provide opportunities for networking and exposure for British brands seeking to expand their reach.

Throughout the three-day event, pop-up theaters will host tastings and panel discussions focused on regional themes. On Tuesday during the fair, contract winery Defined Wine will organize a showcase featuring 30 producers from East Anglia and Kent. This will include a VIP-only early access session and an evening networking reception. Henry Sugden, CEO of Defined Wine, said that partnering with LWF allows them to highlight the diversity of English wines in response to growing demand from visitors.

The Host Nation initiative also includes business-focused programming designed to connect British producers with buyers and distributors. These efforts feature a VIP concierge service, tailored workshops, premium masterclasses, exhibitor profiles in the London Wine Fair Times publication, and hosted attendance for international buyers from key markets.

A central debate titled ‘The Future of English and Welsh Wine’ will bring together industry leaders to discuss strategies for making British wine a mainstream choice among consumers. Organizers hope that these initiatives will help raise the profile of UK drinks on both national and international stages during what is expected to be a landmark year for British participation at the London Wine Fair.
