Vinexpo Asia 2025 brought together nearly 9,000 trade participants in Singapore from May 27 to 29, signaling Southeast Asia's growing influence in the global wine and spirits market. Held at Marina Bay Sands, the trade fair served as both a commercial hub and a platform for strategic dialogue. Singapore's Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Trade & Industry, Gan Siow Huang, opened the event alongside 15 ambassadors, emphasizing regional collaboration and a commitment to open trade.
The tone of the event reflected the evolving global trade environment. Rodolphe Lameyse, CEO of Vinexposium, addressed the volatility in international markets and positioned Southeast Asia as an increasingly important region for industry growth. He described Vinexpo Asia as a necessary space for building coordinated strategies, stressing that collective effort is critical as the wine and spirits sector navigates global changes.
The event underscored Southeast Asia's transformation from an emerging to an essential market. With its expanding population and rising middle class, the ASEAN region is projected to become the world's fourth-largest economy by 2030. Minister Gan noted that alcohol beverage revenue in the region is expected to grow by approximately 10% between 2023 and 2027. Vinexpo Asia captured this momentum by attracting participants from across the bloc, including Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines.
Singapore's central location and role as a trade hub helped bring together regional buying power, making it an ideal venue for the event. A total of 4,253 business meetings were scheduled through Vinexposium's matchmaking platform, which many exhibitors praised for delivering tangible results. Attendees from more than 60 countries participated, with particularly strong representation from Southeast Asia.
Among the exhibitors, national and regional pavilions from countries such as France, Italy, China, the United States and Australia saw significant traffic. For many producers and distributors, the event provided new leads and confirmed deals. Giorgio Calveri, Director of the Italian Trade Agency in Singapore, described the event as an exceptional platform for Italian wines, citing the presence of experienced buyers and distributors. Vivien Gay, Director of International Sales at Silver Oak Winery, confirmed new orders and connections with potential distributors in Malaysia and Cambodia.
Outside the exhibition hall, Singapore's food and beverage scene offered opportunities for informal networking. The setting supported Vinexpo Asia's approach of combining business with industry insight and hospitality.
The educational component of the event was led by Vinexpo Academy, where more than 30 conferences and masterclasses explored the latest market trends and trade challenges. Topics included shifts in consumer behavior, evolving distribution systems, and the entry of new regional players. Nimmi Malhotra, a wine communicator, described the Academy as her main reason for attending, calling it a space for learning and industry dialogue.
Vinexposium also launched the second edition of its publication, Voice of the Industry, during the event. Distributed on-site, it featured market analysis focused on Asia. Additionally, four episodes of Voice by Vinexposium, a podcast series, were recorded live, covering topics such as premium spirits, brand identity, and regional distribution strategies. The episodes are scheduled for release following the event.
Vinexpo Asia will return in 2026, moving back to Hong Kong from May 26 to 28 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center. By alternating between Singapore and Hong Kong, the event continues to offer consistent access to the ASEAN and Greater China markets, reflecting the region's growing complexity and opportunity.
