Dubai’s culinary scene reached a new milestone last night as the city celebrated its first-ever three-star MICHELIN restaurants. The announcement came during a ceremony in downtown Dubai, where the fourth edition of the MICHELIN Guide Dubai was unveiled. This year’s guide features 119 restaurants representing 35 different cuisines, marking a 72.5% increase from the inaugural 2022 edition, which listed 69 establishments.
The most significant achievement of the evening was Trèsind Studio’s promotion to three stars. Led by chef Himanshu Saini, Trèsind Studio is now the first Indian restaurant in the world to receive three MICHELIN stars. The restaurant had previously earned its first star in 2022 and its second in 2023. Chef Saini said this recognition is a testament to his team’s dedication and their mission to present Indian cuisine as progressive and worthy of global acclaim. He emphasized that Trèsind Studio’s identity is deeply tied to Dubai, stating it could not exist in the same way anywhere else.
Another historic moment came with the awarding of three stars to FZN by Björn Frantzén, a new entry in Dubai’s fine dining landscape. With this accolade, Swedish chef Björn Frantzén becomes the first chef worldwide to hold three MICHELIN stars at three different restaurants simultaneously: Frantzén in Stockholm, Zén in Singapore, and now FZN in Dubai. Frantzén expressed gratitude for his team and partners at Atlantis Dubai, highlighting the collaborative effort behind this achievement.
The 2025 MICHELIN Guide Dubai also recognized two new one-star restaurants—Jamavar and Manāo—bringing the city’s total to 14 one-star establishments. Three restaurants retained two stars: Il Ristorante-Niko Romito, Row on 45, and STAY by Yannick Alléno. The guide also includes three Green Star restaurants for their commitment to sustainability: Boca, LOWE, and Teible.
Dubai’s Bib Gourmand selection expanded with five new additions, now totaling 22 restaurants offering high-quality food at moderate prices. The guide’s inspectors noted that the rapid growth in both quantity and diversity of restaurants reflects Dubai’s emergence as a global culinary destination.
Gwendal Poullennec, International Director of the MICHELIN Guide, commented on Dubai’s transformation into a culinary hub. He highlighted Trèsind Studio’s achievement as evidence of the city’s embrace of diverse flavors and its appeal to food lovers worldwide.
Issam Kazim, CEO of Dubai Corporation for Tourism and Commerce Marketing, said that earning three-star status for local restaurants marks another key step in Dubai’s journey as a world-class gastronomic destination. He noted that the city’s vibrant dining scene supports both tourism and economic goals.
The ceremony also included special awards: Abhiraj Khatwani of Manāo was named Best Young Chef; Shiv Menon of Boca received Best Sommelier; Al Khayma Heritage Restaurant was recognized for Best Service; and Ronin was named Opening of the Year.
Dubai has become one of the world’s leading food capitals, recently ranked second only to Paris for food enthusiasts. The city welcomed over 7 million international visitors between January and April 2025—a 7% increase from last year—fueled in part by its dynamic restaurant scene.
The MICHELIN Guide celebrates its 125th anniversary this year and remains one of the most respected authorities in gastronomy. Its system of stars, Bib Gourmand recognitions, and Green Stars for sustainability continue to set benchmarks for excellence worldwide.
With this year’s expanded selection and historic achievements, Dubai further cements its reputation as a must-visit destination for global gourmets seeking diverse culinary experiences.
