Jessica Julmy will take over as the new general manager of TEMPOS Vega Sicilia at the end of August, according to an announcement from the renowned Spanish wine group. She will lead the six wineries owned by the Álvarez family: Vega Sicilia and Alión in Ribera del Duero, Pintia in Toro, Oremus in Hungary’s Tokaj region, Benjamin de Rothschild & Vega Sicilia Macán in Rioja (in partnership with the Rothschild family), and Deiva, a new project in Rías Baixas.
Julmy brings extensive experience from the international wine and luxury sectors. She has held strategic roles at Moët Hennessy (LVMH), including positions at Krug, Château Galoupet, and Moët Hennessy UK. Her background includes a degree in Business and Chinese from Georgetown University and an MBA from London Business School. She speaks five languages—English, French, German, Mandarin Chinese, and Spanish—and has a strong international profile with deep knowledge of the global wine business.
Pablo Álvarez Mezquíriz, CEO of TEMPOS Vega Sicilia, said that Julmy’s arrival marks a new chapter for the group. He emphasized her passion for wine and her international luxury market experience as key assets for facing future challenges while maintaining the company’s core values.
Julmy stated that joining TEMPOS Vega Sicilia is both an honor and a significant responsibility. She expressed admiration for the history and values of the Álvarez Mezquíriz family and said she looks forward to contributing to their legacy by promoting excellence and innovation while respecting the group’s roots.
Her main objectives will be to consolidate future growth for the wineries, safeguard their international reputation, and coordinate global strategy. She is also expected to preserve the legacy and values that have driven the group’s expansion since 1982, when the Álvarez family acquired the historic Vega Sicilia estate in Valbuena de Duero. Since then, they have added five more wineries, turning TEMPOS Vega Sicilia into a global benchmark for quality and authenticity with exports to more than 150 countries.
Julmy will also oversee the launch of Deiva, the family’s new winery in Galicia’s Rías Baixas region. The project will produce a white wine made from albariño grapes under the same name. The first vintage is 2024, with plans to release it commercially in 2027.
With this appointment, TEMPOS Vega Sicilia aims to strengthen its commitment to excellence, innovation, and international growth while maintaining its reputation for authenticity and consistency.
