On January 15, 2025, the European Parliament in Brussels will host a special event to mark the 100-day milestone of the VITÆVINO campaign, an initiative spearheaded by the European wine sector to highlight the cultural significance of wine in society. The celebration will take place in Room 3C050 from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM, organized by Members of the European Parliament Carmen Crespo Díaz and Éric Sargiacomo.

The event will feature prominent guests, including chef Max Mariola, recently recognized as a Food Hero by the FAO for his advocacy of sustainable food practices. With a global following of three million, Mariola is a prominent voice for positive changes in consumption habits. Also attending will be Karen MacNeil, author of the bestselling The Wine Bible, now in its third edition with over 800,000 copies sold. MacNeil is the co-creator of the "Come Over October" campaign, which aims to foster community and connection through wine.

VITÆVINO, launched on September 30, 2024, is centered on the VITÆVINO Declaration, a document inviting the European wine community and consumers to unite in protecting and celebrating wine culture across the continent. The declaration is open for public endorsement on the official website, www.vitaevino.org.

The campaign's initial presentation took place simultaneously in multiple European countries, including Italy, Spain, Austria, Germany, and the Czech Republic. In the coming weeks, countries like Portugal, France, Greece, Sweden, and Belgium are expected to join with similar communication efforts to strengthen the initiative. The campaign aims for a continent-wide reach, culminating in a final event at the European Parliament where the proposal will be formally presented to lawmakers and EU authorities.

This collective effort seeks to underscore wine's importance as a cultural, economic, and social heritage of Europe. It promotes responsible and sustainable wine consumption while acknowledging the beverage's central role in the continent's identity and traditions. The campaign is supported by numerous organizations and associations working together toward this shared goal.
