FranceAgriMer has told distillers in France to validate, through its PAD platform, the commitments filed by operators under the 2026 crisis distillation program, a step that is required before public aid can be paid out for surplus wine removed from the market.

The agency’s user guide, published May 27, says the validation window runs until June 2 at 12:00 p.m. local time. The procedure applies to distillers responsible for confirming the commitments submitted by wine operators seeking support under the emergency measure.

The move comes as French authorities continue to use crisis distillation to help ease pressure on the wine market, where excess supply can weigh on prices and storage capacity. By turning surplus wine into industrial alcohol or other non-beverage uses, the program is meant to reduce inventories and stabilize conditions for producers.

FranceAgriMer said the validation must be completed in the PAD system, which serves as the administrative platform for managing the measure. The guide is intended to help distillers review and approve the declarations already filed by operators so that the process can move forward within the deadline.

The agency did not indicate any change to the rules of the aid itself in the guide, but the timing is important because missing the June 2 cutoff could delay or block processing of applications tied to the 2026 crisis distillation round.
