Bardinet Buys 40% Stake in Street Liquors

The French spirits group Bardinet has acquired 40% of Street Liquors, the Navarra-based company that makes Plata o Plomo, in a deal that gives the company an option to increase its stake over the next three years, the companies said Tuesday.

Bardinet, whose brands include Negrita, Pujol, Cacique and Giró Gin, said the investment fits its strategy of identifying labels with room for growth and supporting them with its industrial network, sales force and international reach. Street Liquors is best known for Plata o Plomo, a shot popular with younger consumers, and for a strawberry tequila that gained attention after becoming fashionable during the San Fermín festival in Pamplona.

Street Liquors is run by brothers Iñaki and Belate Beunza, who took over a drinks distributor founded by their father in Beriáin, in Navarra, in the 1980s and later turned it into a producer. The two companies said they aim to double sales over the next three years and pass 1 million bottles a year, relying on a more active distribution model and promotions tied to music and live events.

Bardinet ended 2025 with revenue of €130.4 million, up 19% from 2024, even as the broader alcoholic beverage market declined. Based in Bordeaux and founded in 1857 by Jean Bardinet, the maker of Negrita later merged in 1993 with La Martiniquaise, another major French spirits group, expanding its portfolio to include Cutty Sark whisky and Marie Brizard anise liqueur.
