Cambrils Lands First Global Food Tourism Conference

Cambrils will host the first International Food Tourism Conference on Nov. 10 and 11, 2026, in a move local officials say will strengthen the town’s standing as a gastronomic destination and bring together professionals from gastronomy, travel, hospitality, tourism development and experience design.

The new congress, known as IFOODTC, is being organized by Wine Events Worldwide, the company behind the International Wine Tourism Conference, or IWINETC, which has held 17 editions in different countries and is widely known in the wine tourism sector. By choosing Cambrils for the debut of this new forum focused on food tourism, the organizers are signaling confidence in the town’s appeal and its ability to draw an international audience.

The conference is expected to attract delegates, travel agents, companies in the sector, professional buyers and specialized media from around the world. For Cambrils, officials see that reach as a chance to present its culinary identity to a qualified audience with influence across multiple markets.

The municipality has long promoted itself as a food destination on Spain’s Costa Daurada, and local leaders say the conference fits into a broader strategy to reinforce that image. The event is intended to highlight what they describe as the town’s restaurant scene, local produce, ties to both the sea and nearby farmland, and a culinary style that has become central to its tourism brand.

Patricia de Miguel, the councilor for tourism and economic promotion, said the decision by Wine Events Worldwide to launch the conference in Cambrils was recognition of years of work to promote the town’s food culture and local products. “The organization of the first IFOODTC in Cambrils represents a major opportunity to continue strengthening our international positioning as a leading gastronomic destination,” she said in a statement. “This congress will allow us to show the world the full gastronomic potential of Cambrils and further consolidate our positioning as the Gastronomic Capital of the Costa Daurada.”

The event also has regional implications. The Cambrils Municipal Tourism Board and the Costa Daurada Tourism Board are working together on the program and on familiarization trips that will follow the conference sessions. Those trips are meant to give attendees direct exposure to the area’s hotels, restaurants and tourism offerings.

Officials say more details about the program will be released in the coming weeks. The conference is being framed not only as a professional meeting but also as a business platform aimed at generating contacts, knowledge exchange and commercial opportunities around food tourism.
