Wine Auctioneer, an international online wine auction platform, has opened a new office in Utrecht, The Netherlands, as part of its ongoing expansion across Europe. The company announced the move in November 2025, following a period of significant growth that saw its turnover more than double since 2023. This expansion comes in response to increasing demand from wine collectors around the world and aims to strengthen Wine Auctioneer’s ability to serve buyers and sellers throughout mainland Europe.
Founded in 2017, Wine Auctioneer has quickly become a recognized name in the global wine auction market. The company already serves collectors in more than 65 countries and operates offices in Scotland and London. The new Utrecht location is expected to streamline logistics for European clients, allowing EU-based lots to be listed and sold directly within the European Union. This change is designed to make participation in Wine Auctioneer’s monthly online auctions easier for both buyers and sellers based in Europe.
Iain McClune, Founder and CEO of Wine Auctioneer, said that opening the Utrecht office marks a new chapter for the business. He emphasized that Europe has always been a key part of the company’s community and that this expansion will help build closer relationships with customers across the continent. McClune also highlighted the importance of trust and accessibility in the company’s approach to connecting collectors with fine wines.
Wine Auctioneer is known for offering a wide range of wines at auction, including highly sought-after bottles such as First Growth Bordeaux and Burgundy. The platform also features rare releases and unique wines at various price points, making it accessible to both experienced collectors and newcomers interested in exploring the secondary wine market.
The Utrecht office is part of a broader European growth strategy for Wine Auctioneer. This follows the successful launch of its London office in 2021 and recent investments in digital infrastructure, including a redesigned website aimed at improving the bidding process and collection management for users worldwide.
As part of its expansion, Wine Auctioneer is actively recruiting wine specialists based in Europe. The company is seeking professionals who share its passion for fine wine and are interested in contributing to the growth of the secondary market. With its expanded presence, Wine Auctioneer aims to further connect collectors across borders while maintaining its commitment to expert curation and an accessible online experience.
