Rare Magnum Bottles From Six Decades of French Winemaking Offered to Collectors

A rare collection of large-format magnum bottles, spanning more than six decades of French winemaking, is now available for collectors and wine enthusiasts. The selection, offered by SoDivin, a specialist in fine and old wines based in Aigues Vives, France, includes bottles from Bordeaux, Burgundy, Champagne, and the Rhône Valley. The vintages range from 1954 to 2017 and feature some of the most prestigious châteaux and domaines in French wine history.

Among the highlights are several magnums of Château Lafite Rothschild from Pauillac, including bottles from 1954, 1973, and 1990. The oldest magnums are priced at nearly €3,000 each before tax. Other notable Bordeaux entries include Château Margaux 1975, Château Ausone 1994, Château Angelus 1982, and Château Pape Clément from both 2000 and 2012. Sauternes is represented by Château Climens and Château de Fargues magnums from the 2007 vintage.

The Burgundy selection features Domaine Anne Gros Echezeaux 2017 and Bouchard Père et Fils Chambertin Clos de Bèze 2014. Domaine Prieuré Roch offers two magnums of Nuits Saint Georges Vieilles Vignes from the same year. Prices for these Burgundies reflect their rarity and reputation, with some bottles exceeding €1,000.

Champagne collectors will find Bollinger R.D. Extra Brut 1999 magnums and Jacquesson Avize Champ Cain Extra Brut 2009 among the offerings. There are also older bottles such as De Venoge Brut Magnum from 1989 and Palmer & Co Collection Blanc de Blancs Magnum from 1996.

The Rhône Valley is represented by names like Auguste Clape with Cornas magnums from both 2010 and 2016, as well as Chapoutier’s Hermitage Le Pavillon and L’Ermite Blanc in various vintages. Henri Bonneau’s Réserve des Célestins Châteauneuf du Pape Magnum from 2007 is one of the most expensive Rhône bottles in the collection.

Quantities for each wine are limited, with many lots consisting of only one or two magnums. Prices vary widely depending on producer, vintage, and classification. For example, a single magnum of Château Lartigue Saint Estèphe from 1967 is listed at €208.33 before tax, while a magnum of Paul Jaboulet Aîné La Chapelle Hermitage Rouge from the celebrated 1990 vintage is offered at over €1,200.

SoDivin has specialized in sourcing rare wines since its founding in 2001. The company caters to collectors seeking mature vintages that are increasingly difficult to find on the market. All bottles are stored under controlled conditions to preserve their quality.

The current offering reflects ongoing demand for large-format bottles among collectors and connoisseurs. Magnums are prized not only for their rarity but also for their aging potential; wine in larger bottles often matures more slowly and can develop greater complexity over time.

This release comes at a time when interest in fine wine investment remains strong globally. Auction houses have reported record prices for rare French wines in recent years, especially for top Bordeaux and Burgundy estates. The availability of such a broad range of magnum formats provides buyers with an opportunity to acquire bottles that may not appear again soon.

Interested buyers can view the full list of available magnums through SoDivin’s website or by contacting the company directly in Aigues Vives. Each bottle comes with provenance details and photographs to assist collectors in making informed decisions about their purchases.
