Southern Glazer’s Wine and Spirits names Steve Bronson chief information officer amid technology transformation

Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits, a leading distributor of beverage alcohol, has appointed Steve Bronson as its new Chief Information Officer. The announcement was made on September 3, 2025, from the company’s offices in Miami and Dallas. Bronson will report directly to David Chaplin, Chief Growth and Strategy Officer, and will be part of the company’s OneTech function.

In his new role, Bronson will be responsible for overseeing Southern Glazer’s enterprise technology strategy and execution. He will work closely with the Digital Acceleration team to ensure that the company’s technology roadmap aligns with its long-term digital transformation and growth objectives. This appointment comes at a time when Southern Glazer’s is increasing its investment in technology to support its Vision 2030 plan.

Bronson brings more than 25 years of experience in technology leadership across several industries, including food and beverage, retail, consumer goods, and high-tech. Before joining Southern Glazer’s, he served as Senior Vice President of Global Technology Infrastructure and Operations at McDonald’s Corporation. There, he led a global technology transformation that included a major partnership with Google to deploy one of the world’s largest private cloud environments. He also played a key role in enabling AI-driven personalization across 40,000 McDonald’s restaurants worldwide.

Earlier in his career, Bronson held senior technology roles at CDK Global, Nike, and Anheuser-Busch InBev. His work included leading enterprise-wide cloud migrations, ERP transformations, digital supply chain innovations, and large-scale modernization projects. He is recognized for building high-performing technology teams and delivering measurable business value.

David Chaplin commented on the appointment by saying that Bronson’s experience with large-scale transformation in complex organizations will be valuable as Southern Glazer’s accelerates its technology investments. Chaplin emphasized that Bronson joins the company at a pivotal time in its technology transformation journey.

Bronson expressed enthusiasm about joining Southern Glazer’s and working with the OneTech organization. He stated that technology is central to the company’s Vision 2030 and said he looks forward to helping unlock new capabilities to strengthen operations, improve customer experiences, and drive sustainable growth.
