The World Tequila Day will be celebrated on July 24, and this year a new luxury tequila is making headlines among enthusiasts and collectors. 1800 Tequila, recognized as one of the most awarded tequila brands globally, has introduced 1800 Guachimonton, an añejo tequila presented in a distinctive red ceramic bottle. The launch aims to honor the deep cultural roots of Jalisco and the archaeological heritage of Los Guachimontones, a UNESCO World Heritage site.
1800 Guachimonton stands out for its unique packaging. The trapezoidal bottle, crafted from red ceramic and topped with a circular wooden stopper, draws inspiration from the pyramids and red clay found at Los Guachimontones. This design pays tribute not only to the region’s ancient architecture but also to its artisanal traditions.
The tequila itself is made exclusively from 100% Blue Weber agave, harvested at peak maturity in the Tequila Valley. After distillation, it is aged in American oak barrels and finished in orange liqueur casks. This final step is a nod to the orange groves that once flourished in this part of Jalisco. The result is a spirit with notes of honey and fresh, bitter citrus, offering a smooth and velvety texture.
According to representatives from 1800 Tequila, Guachimonton can be enjoyed neat or over ice, with an orange twist recommended as garnish. The new release is now available at select retailers and exclusive venues across the country. The brand expects it to appeal to those seeking authenticity, sophistication, and a story behind every glass.
1800 Tequila has built its reputation on quality and tradition since its founding in 1800. The brand uses only Blue Weber agave grown in Tequila, Mexico, adhering to its original recipe and distillation process. Its iconic bottle shape is inspired by Mayan stone pyramids found throughout Mexico.
The launch of 1800 Guachimonton comes as the brand continues to lead the super-premium tequila category in the United States. It has received numerous awards from organizations such as the Mexican Academy of Tequila between 2001 and 2023. Sales data from Nielsen also confirm its position as a top-selling super-premium tequila as of late last year.
With World Tequila Day approaching, 1800 Guachimonton offers aficionados a new way to celebrate Mexican heritage and craftsmanship. The combination of traditional production methods, innovative finishing techniques, and cultural storytelling sets this release apart in an increasingly competitive market for luxury spirits.
