The Consorzio Morellino di Scansano is set to make a significant impact at Vinitaly 2025 in Verona from April 6 to 9. This event will feature 42 wineries showcasing 63 labels of Morellino di Scansano DOCG at Hall 9, Stand B17. Attendees will have the chance to explore a wide range of wines, from the fresh Annata to the more complex Riserva. This gathering will also introduce the new "Superiore" designation, which promises lower yields, longer aging, and greater elegance, while maintaining the wine's characteristic drinkability. This move highlights the denomination's commitment to quality.
President Bernardo Guicciardini Calamai and Director Alessio Durazzi will be present to engage with industry professionals, media, and wine enthusiasts. They aim to discuss the current state and future prospects of Morellino di Scansano. According to Calamai, Vinitaly is crucial for strengthening their position in the Italian market and expanding internationally. Following their success at Wine Paris, the Verona event offers a strategic platform to connect with professionals and enthusiasts. Morellino di Scansano is increasingly appreciated beyond Italy, embodying the authentic spirit of Tuscany. Its growth in international markets and repositioning in the domestic market's upper mid-range segment underscores its value and potential.
In addition to wine, the Consortium will host two exclusive press events celebrating Maremma cuisine. These will take place on April 7 and 8 at the Morellino di Scansano stand. The tastings will feature Maremman tortelli paired with Morellino di Scansano Annata DOCG, Morellino di Scansano Riserva DOCG, and Vermentino Superiore DOC Maremma Toscana. Organized in collaboration with the Consorzio Tutela Vini della Maremma Toscana and the Association for the Protection and Promotion of Maremman Tortello, these tastings aim to highlight the region's culinary heritage.
Chef Massimo Bucci will lead the tastings on April 7, joined by Andrea Biondi, Provincial Director of Confesercenti Grosseto. On April 8, Chefs Sandro Signori and Roberto Delli will take the helm. Delli, Vice President of the Tortello Maremmano Association and owner of Pastai in Maremma, brings a wealth of experience to the event. These tastings offer a unique opportunity to experience the flavors of Maremma, paired with the region's renowned wines.
Vinitaly 2025 promises to be a pivotal event for Morellino di Scansano, offering a platform to showcase its wines and culinary traditions. The introduction of the "Superiore" designation marks a new chapter for the denomination, emphasizing its dedication to excellence. With a strong presence at the event, the Consorzio Morellino di Scansano aims to strengthen its market position and expand its reach internationally. This event is not only a celebration of wine but also a testament to the rich cultural heritage of Tuscany.
