The Mondial des Vins Blancs Strasbourg will return for its 27th edition on April 5 and 6, 2025, bringing together white wine producers from around the world at the Palais de la Musique et des Congrès in Strasbourg. As the only international competition dedicated exclusively to still and sparkling white wines, it has established itself as a key event in the global wine industry. Endorsed by the International Organisation of Vine and Wine (OIV) and a member of VINOFED, the federation of major international wine competitions, the event attracts wineries seeking recognition for their best white wines.
This year's competition introduces new categories reflecting evolving consumer trends. For the first time, partially dealcoholized and dealcoholized wines will be evaluated, acknowledging their increasing presence in both specialized retail and fine dining. The competition will also continue its focus on indigenous grape varieties, a category that has gained prominence as winemakers worldwide seek to showcase their regional identities.
Producers from a wide range of countries are expected to take part, with early entries already arriving from China and the United States. In recent years, Spanish wines have performed strongly, particularly in the sparkling wine category, and entries from regions such as Rueda, Galicia, and Rioja could once again compete for top honors. The competition features 12 distinct categories, with internationally recognized varieties such as chardonnay, sauvignon blanc, riesling, and viognier alongside lesser-known local grapes.
A panel of international judges will assess the wines, awarding medals and special prizes to the standout entries. The Grand Jury Prize will be given to the highest-scoring wine of the competition, while three "Favorites" awards will recognize the best first-time entry, the best skin-contact white wine, and the best wine made from an indigenous variety. Two VINOFED awards will also be presented, honoring the best dry still and dry sparkling wines. In a new initiative, winners of the Grand Gold medals and the Grand Jury Prize will receive a detailed tasting note from the judging panel, offering insights into the wine's sensory profile along with recommended pairings.
The Mondial des Vins Blancs Strasbourg continues to serve as a strategic platform for white wine producers looking to expand their reach in international markets. By bringing together a diverse selection of wines from across the world, the event highlights the versatility and growing importance of white wine in today's industry.
