The Macallan, the renowned Scottish distillery, has drawn inspiration from the culture and tradition of Jerez de la Frontera, Andalusia (Spain), for the latest release in its limited edition series, A Night on Earth. This new offering, A Night on Earth in Jerez, pays homage to the town where the journey of The Macallan's oak casks begins. These barrels, seasoned with sherry wine, are meticulously crafted in Jerez and play a pivotal role in the maturation of the distillery's renowned whiskies.

This edition was officially unveiled on November 5 at an exclusive event in Jerez, where collectors, content creators, and distinguished guests from around the world gathered to celebrate the launch. The event highlighted the artistry and heritage that have defined The Macallan for over two centuries.

A Night on Earth in Jerez has been matured in a balanced combination of European and American oak barrels that once held sherry, showcasing The Macallan's dedication to craftsmanship and tradition. The resulting whisky features a rich, sweet profile with a distinctive burnt orange hue. The flavor and aroma reflect the essence of Andalusian culture, incorporating notes that evoke the region's festive spirit.

The Macallan collaborated with Jerez-born artist María Melero for this edition's packaging design. Inspired by her childhood memories of Christmas in her hometown, Melero created a striking bottle and box design that encapsulates the warmth and traditions of the holiday season. This creative partnership adds a personal touch to the release, tying the whisky's identity closely to Jerez's cultural heritage.

Steven Bremner, Whisky Maker for The Macallan, emphasized Jerez's importance to the brand, noting its vital role in the past, present, and future of the distillery. He explained that the use of European and American oak casks, previously used for sherry, allowed the team to capture the flavors, traditions, and memories of the Andalusian New Year as interpreted by Melero's childhood.

Tasting notes for A Night on Earth in Jerez reveal a layered and indulgent profile. On the nose, the whisky offers aromas of honey-coated pastries, sweet raisins, cinnamon, anise, rich oak, and vibrant citrus. The palate follows with flavors of sweet pastry, white grapes, honey-glazed almonds, vanilla, balanced spices, and a hint of fresh rosemary. The finish is described as sweet, vibrant, and warm. The whisky is bottled at 43% ABV.

Founded in 1824 on a plateau above the River Spey in northeastern Scotland, The Macallan has built its reputation on unmatched quality and innovation. Its enduring influence stems from its mastery of wood and spirit, with sherry-seasoned oak casks remaining central to the distinct character of its single malt whiskies. The brand also underscores its commitment to sustainability, reflected in its award-winning distillery, inaugurated in 2018. Designed to harmonize with the surrounding Scottish landscape, the facility serves as a symbol of The Macallan's dedication to excellence and environmental responsibility.

With its limited availability and unique connection to the heritage of Jerez, A Night on Earth in Jerez stands as a celebration of artistry, craftsmanship, and the spirit of global collaboration.
