Bodegas Izadi brings Izadittone back for Christmas after nine years with Loison
The Rioja winery will sell two €35.75 versions made in Italy with a cream liqueur from its grape pomace

Bodegas Izadi, a winery based in Villabuena de Álava in Spain’s Rioja Alavesa region, is returning to the Christmas market with Izadittone, a holiday panettone it makes with Italian pastry house Loison, as the two companies mark nine years of collaboration.
The seasonal product is made in Loison’s facilities in Vicenza, Italy, using a cream liqueur derived from pomace from Izadi’s own grapes. The winery said the panettone has become a recurring part of its year-end offering and will again be sold in two versions for the 2026 holiday season.
One version, described by the company as the original Izadittone, combines the grape-based pomace cream with Loison chocolate. A second version, Izadittone Clásico, follows a more traditional Italian recipe and includes aged pomace, raisins, orange and lemon.
The launch reflects a longer effort by the winery to link its brand to food as well as wine. Izadi said the project grew out of its gastronomic roots and its partnership with Loison, an Italian pastry maker known for panettone and chocolate. Loison traces its sourdough starter recipe back more than 90 years and says its current business has operated since 1938.
Lalo Antón, Izadi’s general manager, said the company intends to keep the partnership in place. In a statement, he said Christmas “begins with Izadittone” for the winery and called the product the result of Loison’s technical knowledge and recipe tradition.
The panettone will be sold through Artevino Store and gourmet retailers. The listed retail price is €35.75.
Izadi was founded in 1987 by restaurateur Gonzalo Antón and was built from family vineyards in Rioja Alavesa. The name Izadi means “nature” in Basque. The winery says its work has focused on preserving older vineyards in the area and producing wines guided by four principles: respect, sensitivity, curiosity and hospitality.
The business is now led by Lalo Antón and serves as the parent winery of Artevino Family Wineries, whose portfolio also includes Finca Villacreces, Bodegas Vetus and Orben. Since 2020, Izadi has held the Wineries for Climate Protection environmental certification.
The release of Izadittone places the winery in a small but growing group of wine producers that extend their brands into seasonal food products, especially during the year-end gift market. In Izadi’s case, the product centers on a byproduct of winemaking, using distilled grape skins to create a cream liqueur that becomes the defining ingredient in the dough.
That approach gives the product a stronger tie to the winery’s own raw material than a standard co-branded holiday cake. It also gives Izadi a way to present its identity outside the bottle at a time when wineries across Europe are looking for new consumer touchpoints in tourism, hospitality and specialty food.
For Loison, the partnership keeps one of Italy’s most established holiday baked goods connected to a wine region with a strong food culture of its own. The result is a panettone positioned less as a mass-market Christmas sweet than as a premium seasonal item aimed at wine buyers, gift shoppers and gourmet stores.
