The Colorado Association for Viticulture & Enology has launched a statewide consumer app aimed at making it easier for visitors and residents to find wineries, track tastings and follow wine events across Colorado, the group said in a news release on Tuesday.
The app, called Drink Colorado Wine, is the first digital platform in the state devoted entirely to Colorado wine. CAVE said it was designed as a single tool for discovering wineries, planning trips and connecting with regional wine experiences. The organization said the app brings together winery listings, interactive maps, event information and digital tasting features in one place.
Users can search wineries by region, build custom wine trails and see which wines are being poured at festivals and other events. The app also lets users log visits, track tastings through digital passports and receive real-time updates during events. CAVE said the platform includes incentives and rewards for people who use it while visiting wineries and attending festivals.
The app will also serve as the official event platform for CAVE’s festivals and seasonal campaigns. That role is meant to give attendees live information and a more organized way to move through events, according to the association.
A central feature of the app is its promotion of Colorado Cru, a designation that highlights some of the state’s top-rated wines. Wines carrying that label are marked clearly in the app so consumers can identify them more easily. CAVE said the feature is intended to draw attention to quality-focused producers and help visitors learn more about Colorado wine.
Although CAVE developed the platform, it is branded as Drink Colorado Wine rather than under the association’s name. The group said that choice was meant to create a consumer-friendly identity that could represent wineries across the state more broadly.
Cassidee Shull, executive director of CAVE, called the launch “a defining moment for Colorado wine” in the release. She said the app gives consumers a way to stay connected to wineries and their stories after leaving tasting rooms, while also making it easier to discover new places and build relationships with winemakers.
Colorado’s wine industry has been working to raise its profile as tourism and direct-to-consumer sales remain important parts of its business. The new app gives wineries another channel to reach visitors at a time when many regions are competing for attention from travelers looking for food-and-drink experiences closer to home.
