Glenmorangie Unveils $650 Altus 25-Year-Old Whisky After Quarter-Century Maturation

Glenmorangie has released The Altus 25 Years Old, a single malt Scotch whisky that highlights the distillery’s focus on time, patience and craftsmanship. The new expression joins Glenmorangie’s most exclusive range, standing alongside The Original 12 Years Old and Infinita 18 Years Old. The Altus is the result of a quarter-century of aging and careful blending, overseen by Dr. Bill Lumsden, Glenmorangie’s Director of Whisky Creation and Master Distiller.

The whisky is matured primarily in classic bourbon casks for 25 years. A portion of the blend is finished in Madeira wine casks, which adds complexity to the final product. According to Glenmorangie, this combination creates a balance between fruit-forward flavors and depth. The Altus offers aromas of carnation, orange blossom, honey and peach, with background notes of vanilla and toasted almond. On the palate, it delivers flavors of tangerine, pear, currant and yellow plum. The finish is long, with hints of buttery caramel, marzipan and ripe banana.

The barrels used for The Altus are made from American oak sourced from the Ozark Mountains in Missouri. These casks are air-dried outdoors for two years before being toasted according to Dr. Lumsden’s specifications. This process is designed to give the whisky its signature creamy smoothness.

Glenmorangie has built its reputation on producing elegant and fruity single malts. The Altus 25 Years Old aims to represent the peak of this style. Each step in its production reflects the distillery’s commitment to quality and innovation. The Altus 25 Years Old is now available in select markets at a recommended retail price of €599 (about $650).
