On May 29, wine producers from the Torres Vedras Wine Tourism Route gathered for a dinner in the former facilities of the Institute of Vine and Wine in Torres Vedras, Portugal. The event brought together local winemakers who are part of this recently established wine tourism route. The dinner took place just before the Reserva – Forum for Innovation in Gastronomy and Wine, an event focused on new trends and developments in the food and wine sector.
The main goal of the dinner was to strengthen relationships among the producers. Each winery presented some of their wines, which were paired with dishes served during the evening. This allowed participants to experience different combinations and discuss their products in a relaxed setting.
Laura Rodrigues, president of the Torres Vedras City Council, attended the dinner and praised the commitment of all those involved in the project. She also announced that this year’s edition of Vinhos A.Gosto, a local wine festival, will focus on wines from producers who are part of the route. Dulcineia Ramos, city councilor for tourism, was also present. She provided an update on the implementation of the route, which was launched in October 2024.
The Torres Vedras Wine Tourism Route is designed to highlight the region’s wine heritage as well as its cultural and scenic assets. The project involves local producers and organizations with expertise in tourism and viticulture. The aim is to attract more visitors to the area by offering experiences that combine wine tasting with exploration of local traditions and landscapes.
Producers interested in joining the route must meet specific requirements. They need to be properly licensed and registered with the Lisbon Regional Wine Commission. In addition, they must be able to offer at least one visit and one wine tasting to guests. This ensures that visitors have access to authentic experiences and that participating wineries maintain high standards.
The dinner served as an opportunity for producers to share ideas and discuss future collaborations. It also reinforced the importance of working together to promote Torres Vedras as a destination for wine lovers. With ongoing support from local authorities and growing interest from new producers, organizers hope that the route will continue to expand and contribute to the region’s reputation as a center for quality wine tourism.
