The 19th edition of the Syrah du Monde International Competition took place on May 15 and 16, 2025, at the historic Château d’Ampuis in the northern Rhône region of France. This annual event brought together wines from 22 countries, making it a key meeting point for Syrah producers and experts from around the world. Over two days, a panel of 100 international judges evaluated 207 Syrah samples under strict tasting conditions.
Syrah du Monde is recognized for its rigorous standards and global reach. The competition is known for its demanding evaluation process, which goes beyond standard quality norms. Judges taste wines in optimal conditions to ensure fairness and accuracy in their assessments. This year, the panel awarded a total of 68 medals: 32 gold and 36 silver. No Grand Gold or Bronze medals were given in this edition.
France led the medal count with six gold and sixteen silver medals, reflecting its strong tradition with the Syrah grape. Switzerland followed with five gold and three silver medals, while Australia secured four gold and two silver medals. Other notable results included Italy and Spain, each earning four gold medals. Canada received three golds and one silver, while South Africa was recognized with two golds and four silvers.
Several countries received single medals, highlighting the global appeal of Syrah. Argentina, Mexico, Portugal, North Macedonia, and Romania each took home one silver medal. Brazil earned one gold and one silver medal. Greece was awarded one gold medal, and Austria also received a single gold.
The United States was represented among the winners with one gold medal. The competition did not award any Grand Gold or Bronze medals this year.
