European and American Oenology Labs Form Strategic Partnership

Laboratoires Dubernet, a prominent European oenology laboratory based in Narbonne, and ETS Laboratories, a leading American oenological lab in Napa Valley, have announced a strategic partnership. This collaboration aims to enhance their scientific and operational capabilities to tackle global challenges in viticulture and winemaking. The partnership focuses on combining strengths to accelerate innovation, improve analytical tools, and offer advanced solutions to clients.

The collaboration involves sharing scientific expertise to innovate in analytical and technological processes, addressing local and global client needs. This exchange supports both laboratories' commitments to sustainability, quality, and environmental concerns. ETS Laboratories has taken a minority stake in the Dubernet Group, enabling the latter to fast-track innovation projects, including establishing Terra Mea in the U.S. within ETS Laboratories.

The partnership is driven by a shared vision of addressing major industry challenges, such as climate change affecting agricultural ecosystems and shifts in wine markets and consumption patterns. Producers, traders, oenologists, and agronomists will benefit from innovative solutions, a global network, and strengthened support for agro-environmental practices. Both companies aim to play an active role in sustainability and climate change adaptation.

Terra Mea, founded by Laboratoires Dubernet in 2023, focuses on studying soil life and humus functioning, crucial for agricultural and viticultural sustainability. It combines innovations and new approaches to produce agroecological indicators and expertise. Terra Mea is a unique player in agroecological innovation for the French agricultural sector, including vineyards, large crops, market gardening, orchards, and green spaces. Through their partnership, Laboratoires Dubernet and ETS Laboratories are expanding Terra Mea to the American continent, with services available to U.S. clients starting in early 2025.

Matthieu Dubernet, President of Laboratoires Dubernet, highlighted the company's 50-year history in oenological analysis and consulting. He emphasized the long-standing relationship with ETS Laboratories and the shared desire to address industry challenges. The partnership is seen as a significant step in enhancing research and development capabilities and anticipating future sector needs.

Gordon Burns, President of ETS Laboratories, expressed the appropriateness of joining forces with Laboratoires Dubernet as both organizations celebrate 50 years of service to their industries and winemakers.

Laboratoires Dubernet is a leading independent oenological laboratory in Europe, led by Matthieu Dubernet, the third generation of the Dubernet family. Founded 50 years ago in Narbonne, Aude, the company employs nearly 80 people and operates three oenological analysis sites from Languedoc to the Rhône Valley. It is a global leader in oenological analysis and consulting.

This strategic partnership between Laboratoires Dubernet and ETS Laboratories marks a significant development in the oenological and agroecological sectors. By combining their expertise and resources, the two laboratories aim to drive innovation and provide advanced solutions to meet the evolving needs of the viticulture and winemaking industry.
